About Me
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love getting to know the people of the places I travel. I’m a super relationship-oriented person — I feel like I can only really know and love a place if I’ve got a few faces associated with it! I’m here to be that face for my home, and to meet new folks elsewhere.
Interests
Poetry, Second Language Acquisition, Turkish language and culture, Eastern Orthodox theology, Byzantine history, the old west, bolo ties, and camper van conversions!

Music, Movies, and Books
Annie Dillard, Fyodor Dostoyevsky, P. G. Wodehouse, and David Foster Wallace, John Zizioulas, Julian of Norwich, and Old English poetry.
I love Vampire Weekend, Marty Robbins, Andrew Bird, Orville Peck, Gregory Alan Isakov, Glenn Gould, Sufjan Stevens, the Alabama Shakes, Son Lux, Father John Misty, Iron and Wine, Lana Del Rey, and Carley Rae Jepsen.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've kayaked over a waterfall on the Kansas River, kissed the hand of the Ecumenical Patriarch, attended an Easter vigil at the Church of the Resurrection, and shouted "mashallah!" with many, many Turkish grandmas on overnight busses.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Good conversation and a very tidy house guest! I’d love to talk with you about rugs or carpets — I run a small business selling Turkish textiles and am an amateur appraiser. I scout around the country for rare books as part of my job with a bookstore back home in Indiana, so I am also happy to talk about or take a look at your books!
