About Me

Hey Couch-surfers! My name is Evan and I am from in San Diego, California. I grew up filled with a sense of wonder and wanderlust so one day I decided to finally satiate that. I am just wrapping up 2 months travelling Southeast Asia. It was my first time travelling outside of the U.S. and I absolutely fell in love with every new experience. So now I'm about to embark on a year working holiday in Australia!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am on Couchsurfing because I've been told by my fellow travelers it is the BEST way hands-down to get an authentic local experience. From the little I know of the organization, the concept of opening up your home to a total stranger simply because you enjoy meeting new people is incredible. Part of me can't wait to get home so I can do the same for people travelling the U.S.

Interests

Travel, Films, anything water-related(surfing, swimming, diving, cliff-jumping, kayaking, etc.) music, Grabbing a beer with friends, League of Legends, learning about new cultures and meeting new people.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm an Country music fan at heart. I honestly enjoy just about every genre of music from Rock to Jazz to Classical to House. Right now I'm enjoying musicians such as Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, etc since they write their own music. Movies: Braveheart, Gladiator, Disney was my childhood and still see all the new ones in the cinema, Theory of Everything, Dallas Buyers Club, the Marvel franchise, Birdman, but the Star Wars saga will always be my favorite. Favorite books are a tossup between the Harry Potter novels or the works of J.R.R Tolkien. Both became major movie franchises that I love as well, but the books will always be better. I enjoy many Dean Koontz/Stephen King thriller novels as well.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I left a good job with room for growth to follow my dreams and travel the world. It started in Southeast Asia, where I ended up in a "travel family" of 11 solo travelers who stuck together for almost 2 months. I overcame my wallet and phone being stolen, injuries, and constant critique from family and friends back home that I was crazy. For me, that is amazing because in the last 2 months I have grown more than I could have ever done had I stayed home. I've skydived, cliff-jumped, seen some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world, meditated with monks, been to a circus school, but the most amazing thing I've done is found true happiness.

Teach, Learn, Share

As far as teaching goes, I'm happy to help someone practice English if they're learning it as a second language. I'm tech/computer savvy so I'd be happy to help anyone with any tech support related stuff. At this stage in my life I'm open to learning and sharing anything that I can.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can help out around the house, give you a hand with any labor tasks you have to get done, help with any tech support you need done, share my stories, and share anything I can. As I'm arriving in Australia tomorrow, I don't have much to offer at the moment, but anything I can share, I will.
