About Me

My name is Evan and I am 21 from England. I like to focus on the good things in life. I think that couchsurfing fits this perfectly. I like to laugh as much as possible. Ha ha. I like to listen to people. I think they have interesting stories. I like that couchsurfing relies on trust and that it brings out the best qualities in people, and that its free. It seems to me then, a good idea...

Below was written when I first used couchsurfing and I was genuinely really happy with my experience. So ive kept it so I can reread it for memories and for a laugh:

A guy getting an expensive af history degree in Manchester, England, that has no idea how he wants to use it 😄
As tempting as a job as a librarian sounds, or a job in general, I wanna use my skills as a bartender to work abroad and to travel too... Cos fuck.... there are actually are places better than England out there, like Ireland for example. Ireland is a great place and a place that I personally love. Recently I applied for my Irish passport through my Irish Dad... which makes me half Irish 💚

With some skills of an average bartender acquired from three previous jobs in sunny England, this Irishness a bit of money and confidence... I flew classic Ryanair €20 from Manchester to Berlin in search of work in an Irish pub. At which I found work in about 3 days by dressing nice and walking round to every Irish pub in Berlin handing out CVs and following Google maps😎 In classic English/Irish style of having no German language skills. Which I would go on to learn a bit of but really, for now, I remain another lazy native English speaker who kinda wings it a lot. Maybe in the future I can really commit to another language as it would be nice, for once, to truly understand somebody else!...

I lived and worked in Berlin for around 6 weeks and had the best time of my life. Living in a hostel (INN BERLIN -in Wedding/North Berlin good location cheap and really reccomend for long term stays in Berlin as they do ya a cheaper deal) and of course meeting people and shit. Berlin is as people tell you... You can do whatever you want there, be who you want... Fuck that's why people love it so much and I agree. An awesome place worth spending at least a few weeks there.

So I have this as my first long term travel trip where along the way I visited Poland (GDANSK, WARSAW & KRAKOW), Czech Republic (Prague) and Croatia (Zagreb, Split and Dubrovnic). Where the recent history is both engaging and interesting for me and certainly worth knowing.

Now I finish this degree and probably search for experiences like traveling and working for the same reasons anyone does... its Social, exciting, unique and fun blah blah... Couchsurfing is a cool alternative to hostels and something I can see myself using more in the future 😊
