Overview
About Me
My name’s Evan, and I’m a forester from the Pacific Northwest region of North America. I’ve lived and worked in some of the most remote and beautiful places in the world for round about 9 years now, and have had lots of great adventures in that time (although many were also painful lol).
I’ve travelled quite a bit over the years via Couchsurfing as well as other platforms, and so have had the privilege of meeting lots of awesome people in places that were equally awesome!
Aside from that I enjoy doing high-level historical research and hope to make a significant contribution to that field in due course.
My MBTI personality type is ISTJ (if that helps!) and overall I’d rate myself as pretty organized but also flexible when necessary.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Like many others I initially started Couchsurfing to save money. But after doing it several times I started to realize why it’s so popular and why lots of people are willing to be hosts themselves. Traveling, and especially traveling alone, is so much better when you can meet and do fun stuff with other great people along the way. Both hosts and guests have a lot to share, and having a great host can make all the difference between a memorable traveling experience and a stale one. For that reason I think it’s a great option for anyone traveling somewhere they have no prior connections, and I’m glad to have provided those kind of experiences for other travellers.

Music, Movies, and Books
My favourite music would have to be epic music, all the way!

Though I do dabble in some other stuff as well.
Not really into lots of movies, I prefer the TV show format. And I'm always up for a good documentary.
For books I could put a lot on this list. It is mostly non-fiction of very high calibre, I regard books as an investment and get the best quality I can. Among the things I read include military history, nature ID guides, textbooks (I'm weird that way), and a smattering of fiction here and there.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
How about planting 200,000+ trees over the course of two summers?
