ABOUT ME

I have a master's degree in marine ecology and have worked all over the British Columbia coast, as well as various places in the tropics. Born and raised in Vancouver, I grew up enjoying the natural setting of BC. My family traveled a lot when I was younger and I was instilled with an appreciation for learning about different cultures.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have hosted people at home in Vancouver and have been hosted by many wonderful people in the last couple of years.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Sleeping on a couch generally means that something monumental has ensued the previous night. It always carries with it a building feeling of excitement. Either you stayed up late, solving the world's problems or you were catching up with an old friend or you're staying over to wake up early and go on expedition early in the morning.

Interests

Music is a huge part of my life and I am usually playing, listening to, or waiting to listen to music. I enjoy outdoor pursuits such as skiing, sailing and hiking and have done a number of multi-day adventures.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Ran through the jungle of Guatemala in pitch black to see the sun rise over the ruins of Tikal while being serenaded by howler monkeys. Also, sleeping in an iron ore-dusted cargo car on a train through the Sahara was pretty magical. Despite the huge ore-induced eye boogers and constant banging together of cars, our Touareg car-mates kept feeding us hot tea and goat stew. Incredible!
