About Me

Hello, hallo, hallå, hola, bonjour...

I'm originally from the California Bay Area, but I've been living in Sweden for about three years, where I work with startups. I've had to leave Sweden for a few months because of some visa issues, so I'm working remotely and travelling, trying out that digital nomad life!

In my free time I'm also writing fiction, reading, playing hockey, and spending too much money on coffee and too much time in coffeeshops. I have a bad case of FOMO and I'm spending a lot of time thinking, reading, and writing about it -- if you have any solutions I'd be really happy to hear them

Teach, Learn, Share

I love languages and I'm always looking for words don't have perfect translations into English.

German has a lot of wonderful ones like futterneid and weltschmerz and fernweh and heimat. There's also saudade in Portuguese, kalsarikännit in Finnish, hygge in Danish... I have a growing list of these, and I'd love if you could help me add more! We can discuss it over a Swedish fika :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Have you ever wondered how you'd be described, if you were a character in a book? As a thanks for hosting me, I'd like to leave you a "word portrait" of yourself.

Maybe something like this scene from Harry Potter, when Harry first sees Hagrid:

"A giant of a man was standing in the doorway. His face was almost completely hidden by a long, shaggy mane of hair and a wild, tangled beard, but you could make out his eyes, glinting like black beetles under all the hair."

Countries I’ve Lived In

Germany, Sweden, United States
