Über mich

Hello there! Call me Evan for short and nope my name has nothing to do with my religion.

I'm currently on a student exchange program in Krakow, Poland, so that's why I'm unable to host anyone as of now - currently squeezing in a small room with a local roomie!

More about me - I come from the little red dot known as Singapore, where the infamous gum banning law is implemented in. I don't like gum too much anyway. I am currently on my 3rd year of studies majoring in Sociology (shall spare everyone off all the geeky nerdy Sociology terminologies that might put anyone off hahaha)

I enjoy traveling and I love meeting nice locals who all have their own stories to tell. My love for traveling sparked off after a volunteering expedition to Myanmar. I would consider it to be one rare good decision that I've made for myself so far (haha) and as you can probably infer, I laugh at my own lame jokes. I apologize if that had made you cringe or roll your eyes

I blog about my travels at www.myedvantures.blogspot.com, and hurhur.. yes the pun is very much intended. I love sharing about my experiences. I am also a very coffee person - sorry beer fans or tea freaks - and I am a selective clean-eater (oatmeal and nuts anytime for any meals - REALLY, but when chocolate happens....)

If you would like to get some tips about Singapore or Krakow or Myanmar, feel free to write a message to me and I'd try my best to give some! :-)

Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin

I've heard so many positive reviews about this space from my friends who've been to Europe and swore on couchsurfing. I also look forward it to be a platform for me to meet fellow travelers, and to help needy travelers who need advise or tips to get around!

Interessen

I bake! Cookies, cakes, brownies, muffins .... And I love giving friends food. I also love traveling (and I believe most people who're here do as well). I used to be from choir and I love singing too :-) Currently learning on how to play the guitar but procrastination is my ultimate talent, really. And lastly, I blog - my online space is the only avenue that can handle my incessant thoughts

Musik, Filme und Bücher

I hate to say, but I rarely read.... I respect people who are able to sit still the whole day with just a cuppa tea and a good book. But my sociology readings would be a different matter altogether... However, one good book that had captured my devoted attention is "The Kite Runner" by Khaled Hosseini. If a non-avid reader like me likes a book... I guess that speaks volume!

I don't subscribe to one particular genre of music alone - so I don't have a particular favourite for music (mandopop, pop, rap, R&B, remixes, ahh the list goes on).

I am a sucker for good comedies (or just anything/anyone that can make me laugh) but I am such a fan of thought-provoking movies - Schindler's List, A beautiful mind, Inception, Spirited Away.. generally long-hour movies I realize hahha

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

I am glad they specify just "One" cos I would have such a hard time listing down all the amazing things I'd done HAHA (I'm kidding)

If I would allow one amazing thing to define who I am, I would think it's my decision to join the volunteering expedition to Myanmar in 2013 - which marked the start of my love for the Burmese, the Myanmar culture and the experiences I've had so far. Since then, I've been to Myanmar on 2 subsequent occasions - and counting. Even though I'm not able to eradicate poverty or migrate to Myanmar immediately (not now, at least), I was glad that my short but consistent presence in Myanmar has brought some kind of happiness to the village and the kids.

Was ich mit Gastgebern teilen kann

I guess I can share my stash of almond nuts with my kind hosts.... hahahha no but seriously I can help to clean and cook, definitely.
