Overview
About Me
By day, I'm a programmer. By night, I drink beer and figure out how to un-brick my phone. In short, I'm a tech guy.
I'm back in the Memphis area through a very interesting set of events (well, I suppose interesting is subjective). While I am originally from the Memphis area, I haven't been around here while an adult and as such have yet to see much of the cool stuff, really.
I love traveling, but I haven't gotten a chance to recently, and I haven't ever really been out of the US, which is something I would like to change as soon as possible. Attending Oktoberfest is on my bucket list. One of my favorite places I've been thus far is New York City. It's absolutely gorgeous around Christmas time. I also liked the small amount of Wisconsin I briefly saw. Lots of cheese.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
After returning to the Memphis area, I realized that all the people I had previously known here had moved away. Through other avenues, I found people in the Couchsurfing community who introduced me to the awesomeness that is this whole thing. Also, I'm trying to get over the whole being introverted thing, and meeting people through here is definitely helping.
I am extremely interested in meeting new people and hearing about others' experiences as well as gathering up contacts and inspiration for my own great road trip!

Music, Movies, and Books
Pandora pretty much accounts for my entire music-related existence at the moment. I listen to a lot of Techno radio when coding at work, some Celtic music when I feel like listening to something a little more subdued, and Today's Hits if I want to get songs stuck in my head for the rest of the day. I'm a fan of Death Cab for Cutie. Occasionally, I will head over to TheSixtyOne and listen to some new stuff there. I'm a little all over the place in that regard.
Wreck It Ralph is my current favorite movie. It replaced The Incredibles, a feat which I did not think was possible. Big Hero 6 was great as well…Disney sure hits some stuff out of the park these days. I'm a fan of Marvel movies. I most likely haven't seen as many of "the classics" as I should have, so if there's something I absolutely have to see, let me know!
I have to confess that the last book I looked at was Professional ASP.NET 4.5 in C# and VB, and that isn't quite what I would consider to be "light reading material." I have a backlog of books I want to read, though, including the following: Dan Brown's Inferno, Impossible Odds, The Cryptonomicon, and many others.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I went to Apple's World Wide Developer Conference in 2012, on a scholarship furnished by Apple, which in my mind was pretty amazing.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach others how to get into special menus in their phones they've never seen before, and if you've ever wanted to know how run-length encoding works, I can help you! After pulling up the Wikipedia page and refreshing myself first, of course.
I don't mean to sound cliche, I have a lot to learn. I have come to realize that people have had vastly different experiences throughout life, and hearing each story helps bolster my knowledge about the world in which we live.
What I Can Share with Hosts
If you're having a computer or technology issue, I can most likely help you out! I'm very handy with technology and enjoy the challenge of fixing strange issues.
Also, I can make you a pecan pie. Or cookies. Or blueberry scones. Mmm.
