About Me

Salut!

I'm a foreign language and ESL instructor at a small boarding school on Connecticut's shoreline. I live in an old Post House not five minutes from a beach, a truly wonderful thing to experience. I'll begin my third year in this position in September and am looking to get back on the road and make some wonderful acquaintances before I look into getting a Master's Degree within the field of International Education within the next few years. I adore learning about the world and Francophone culture, as it is clearly ingrained in my background and experiences! Host me and let me host you!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I spent two months WWOOFing (volunteer living and working on organic farms) in the Gers and Pyrenees-Atlantiques parts of Southwestern France during the summer of 2012. On these farms, one a vegetable/fruit farm and the other a poultry farm, I had some of my most eye-opening, perspective-changing experiences living and connecting with my hosts and other guests. I'd like to return to making purposeful exchanges and impressions, as they can have a brief but powerful impact on one's life that I cherish. I'd like this not only for me but for others, hence why I am opening up my home. There sure are no strangers out there, only acquaintances to be made, and the times of paying and staying in youth hostels have just about expired in my book (hopefully).

Interests

Cycling, birdwatching, Ultimate Frisbee and table tennis, rock climbing, traveling (living abroad, preferably), cooking, gardening, going to concerts, exploring the less-traveled paths in cities, and gaining new perspectives.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Spent Bastille Day camped out in the ruins of an 11th-century chateau...for a local reggae concert hosted by the collective repairing the chateau...with a herd of semi-wild goats stalking us. (Je vous conseille: Mefiez-vous des boucs sataniques!)

Teach, Learn, Share

I adore teaching the little Thai I know and, of course, French, although I am not a maternal speaker. I'm big into giving tours and walks on the beach, sharing stories about adventures abroad and at home, and cooking meals together (or for you). I am additionally enthusiastic about transforming you into a Frisbee-wielding force and a table tennis terror, too.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Open-minded enthusiasm and authentic interest.

Crepes, if not too full from the last time I cooked them.

A town beach and a peaceful old house on a happening strip.

A keyboard with a kick-ars DJ mode that has some pretty suggestive sound samples.

A trip to a local, historic pub called The Griswold Inn to rub elbows with hip older generations who sing sea shanties!
