Overview
About Me
I go to college in Tampa and live a pretty easy-going life with two roommates. I take my academics very seriously but I'm also a social creature and I like to get out and have a good time. I spend my time studying, partying, playing basketball, and playing guitar. I enjoy interacting with strangers because it's kind of like an opportunity to practice my social skills. I like to hear stories - I rarely have much to say about the future so I enjoy poking fun at the past and present.
I'm very even-tempered; it takes a lot to get me upset. I consider myself an honest person. I have a dry and sarcastic sense of humor, but I know how to use it in a way that doesn't make me seem like an asshole (usually). I'm generally optimistic. People have described me positively as funny, intelligent, sociable, kind, open-minded. People have described me negatively as sarcastic, apathetic, and selfish.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
After I graduated high school I spent one month backpacking across Europe, mainly using Couchsurfing. I had a lot of fun and met some great people, and I continued to use it for surfing, hanging out, and hosting people in Tampa. I recommend CS whenever I can. Every experience I've had through this site has been memorable. My travels so far have taught me one thing: it's not about the place, it's about the people.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like music. Particularly alt/indie rock such as The White Stripes, The Strokes, Band of Skulls, Modest Mouse, Spoon, and Red Hot Chili Peppers. I also listen to a lot of hip-hop: Kendrick, Kid Cudi, Wale, Lupe Fiasco, Kanye, Nas.
Some of my favorite movies: The Goodfellas, Office Space, Pulp Fiction, Narc, The Departed, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, The Blues Brothers, Fight Club, Space Balls, Lord of The Rings, Drive, Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny
I enjoy watching a good documentary when I can, and suggestions are always welcome. Some of my favorites are Hot Coffee, Exit Through the Gift Shop, Gasland, Man on Wire, Capitalism: A Love Story
I don't really go out of my way to read for leisure very often, which I'm trying to fix. Some books that stick out in my mind are Oryx & Crake, Shogun, Of Mice and Men, The Great Gatsby, To Kill a Mockingbird
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Sometimes I think it's amazing that I traveled to a foreign city, at 18 years old, and despite not knowing the language, not knowing anyone there, not knowing where I was going to sleep, or really even where I was - still survived and had fun.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm pretty interested in international affairs so I love learning about foreign cultures and politics.
I have grown up working in kitchens so I could probably teach someone a few tips on American cooking, especially breakfast cuisine.
