Overview
About Me
I'm working at a small private equity firm in Phnom Penh, been living here for a year and not sure where I'll wind up next.
Originally from Washington, DC, went to college in California, and have studied abroad in Thailand (that's why I speak Thai), China (that's why I speak Chinese), and South Korea (that's why I know how to say a few words in Korean. Korean's super hard...)
I always love meeting other people who have a jones for traveling, whether of the urban explorer or the camping under the stars variety. I'll admit that I'm more of a city guy, but living in Bangkok means that I need some outdoor time too, and thankfully the jungles, beaches, and mountains of SE Asia are all pretty close by.
Tennis player
half-marathon runner
political junkie (esp. international politics)
night owl
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I absolutely love traveling, learning foreign languages and about foreign cultures. I've done a fair bit of traveling already, but I'm always up for more.
Interests
languages, tennis, words with friends, travel (duh), food (the spicier the better), and music/movies/tv/books (all of which require a much more in-depth answer than this). Really the best way to answer this is I try to learn as much as I can, and I always try to find out what's interesting about any given topic rather than dismissing it out of hand (except for country music, sorrynotsorry).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
During the year I spent in Thailand as an exchange student I ordained as a Buddhist novice monk, living in a temple with shaved hair/shaved eyebrows, wearing the robes, chanting, meditating, the whole shebang.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach the languages I know and (maybe) the languages I'm currently studying. I'm a big music nut too, so I can pass along lots of interesting electronic, indie rock, jazz, modern classical, you name it.
Countries I’ve Visited
Austria, Cambodia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Guatemala, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Laos, Macao, Malaysia, Mexico, Myanmar, Singapore, South Korea, Switzerland, Thailand, United Kingdom, Viet Nam
