Hi There! I’m Evan, from New Zealand. I’m 21 years old, and currently studying Engineering & Arts at the University of Auckland – I’m set to graduate at the end of next year. I’ve just come back from a yearlong exchange to University College London, where I managed to backpack around most of Central Europe, and meet some absolutely incredible people.

At the moment I’m living in a Hall of Residence here in Auckland as a Residential Supervisor – someone’s got to keep an eye on those pesky first year’s – but as soon as I graduate I plan on travelling and working overseas.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I had the best time of my life while travelling around the throughout Europe, and I want to be able to give some of that back to other people. I mostly in stayed in hostels and freedom camped while abroad, but Couchsurfing always seemed like a really interesting idea. I want to host people here in New Zealand and show them around this beautiful country before I head off to travel South America & South-East Asia (and hopefully do some Couchsurfing there).

Most importantly, I want to meet people of different cultures and backgrounds – throughout my time in Europe it was the friendships I built that made the year so special, and I’d love for that same atmosphere to continue to occur while I’m at home.

The reason I joined this site meet people and experience an authentic part of thier culture. I could travel anywhere and stay in a hostel, but that's not what travelling is to me. I hope that through this website I will meet new people who will show me their culture, show me which are the good restaurants, teach me about their history, and their idiosyncrasies, and their way of life.

I'm fluent in English, and would be more than happy to help chat with, and teach anyone.

I would also absolutely love to learn Spanish - I've done a couple of years at High School, and have done some online courses already.
