About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I like to travel, see places, meet people, and learn.
ABOUT ME
I am currently working and living in New York City, my home town. I like music, learning, and love to talk to people. I'm currently learning French, and am trying to decide what to do with my life. After studying and working as an engineer, I became disillusioned with the idea of spending my life producing profits for corporations and decided I want to do other things instead. So I quit my job, rode a bicycle across the United States, and now I'm trying to pursue a PhD in economics, which I became interested in after reading Marx. I love talking about politics, history, economics, philosophy, and really hope to learn others' perspectives and about the places they live.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've used Couchsurfing a bunch during my travels and have had nothing but amazing experiences! I love the idea and the community of couchsurfing, I try to recommend it to anyone I know who's travelling. I also like going on long distance bicycle trips, and use Warmshowers, a hosting network similar to Couchsurfing, specifically for bikers.
I'm hoping to travel and surf a lot more, and really want to start hosting when I have a steady place to live, but for now I've been moving around a lot and can't commit to hosting.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music:
All kinds of music, a lot of indie and rap. Modest Mouse, Animal Collective, Broken Social Scene, Mos Def, Nas, Immortal Technique, Miles Davis, The Flaming Lips, St Vincent, Mac Demarco, Kendrick, Sufjan Stevens, Frankie Cosmos, Joan of Arc, Big Thief...
Movies:
I've become disillusioned with most mainstream movies as I've become politically aware of the kind of ideology, societal norms, and values that are perpetuated in movies and television. I've become interested in movies that challenge the dominant ideology. However, I haven't found many so far... I'd love to get some recommendations!
Books:
For the past few years I've been obsessed with learning about history, and more lately economics, specifically non mainstream, critical analysis of the world. Some authors I've been reading lately are Noam Chomsky, Howard Zinn, David Harvey, Richard Wolff, Naomi Klein, George Orwell, Slavoj Zizek, Marx...
