Overview
About Me
I grew up on a sheep farm in the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia Canada. I also spent many summers picking cherries and autumns picking apples. I met many travellers from around the world working in the orchards. After high school I went travelling to South America (Peru, Bolivia, Argentina, and Chile) as well as to New Zealand. At that point I was travelling with my boyfriend and since we had never heard of "couchsurfing" we mostly stayed at hostels. About a year after that I planned a solo journey to Mexico and that is when I first utilized the couchsurfing website. I stayed with five different people/families in various cities and towns across mexico and had an AMAZING time. It was such a great experience! After that I moved to the mountains of British Columbia and took a two year art diploma in textile arts. Since then I moved to Vancouver Island and I started working at a garden centre which has sparked a passion within me for plants. I love plants! Most of my most recent travels have been much more localized as I have mostly been exploring Vancouver Island through various hiking and camping trips.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am a fan! Have had nothing but good experiences. I have not hosted yet, but I would be willing to if things lined up in the right way. As it stands hosting is a bit of a challenge as me and my boyfriend work very different schedules.
Interests
Right now in my life I am especially interested in plants. As I am a renter, I mostly grow annual flowers and vegetables...but I do have some perennials in pots. I am by no means a professional gardener but I am fascinated with watching plants grow and bear blossoms and food. I am curious to see how I can make a positive impact on the field of Horticulture. I am generally interested in learning skills that will help me live a more simple life in balance with the natural world.
I also love art in it's many forms, right now I am particularly interested in mixed media containing textiles as well as plant photography. I do natural dying as well as felting. Other interests include herbalism, fermentation, dancing, hiking, camping deep in the old-growth, and exploring my city by foot or bike.

Music, Movies, and Books
My favorite music is the kinds that I can dance to!
As for movies, I tend to prefer documentaries and mostly would rather be doing something else than sitting in front of a TV screen... I am open to suggestions none the less!
As far as books goes, I am particularly fond of The Art of Fermentation by Sandor Elix Katz.
Currently reading "Cut Flower Garden" by Erin Benzakein...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
When I was 18 I flew to Lima Peru with my partner. We bussed to Cuzco and found a guide willing to take us to 'Espirtu Pampa' which was a 7 day trek through the mountains.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can definitely pass on a bit of wisdom about plants and I am always curious to learn more about them as well.
I would love to learn about so many things! How to build a pollinator hotel, how to cook delicious recipes from around the world, mushroom growing, how to make a home-brew I actually like, knitting/crochet/macrame/weaving, mending skills, pottery, floral-arranging, plant propagating, better photography skills, as well as wood-working skills.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share my stories, my art, my photos, and my knowledge about plants.
