About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Live life large with an abudance of laughter. To give voice to all people through writing and story.

ABOUT ME

I am a bubbling over extrovert. I am in to slam Poetry, biking, hiking, dancing at St. Louis Blues clubs, cooking for friends and strangers, community gatherings around brunches and 2 a.m. post bar breakfasts. Tequila shots around poetic toasts. Extracting soul secrets from those around me. Reading well crafted sentences. Writing, community art that gives voice to those who are overlooked. Spirituality, astrology, talking politics, and storytelling that goes beyond the superficial. Tell me what shapes you, what moves you, what you are passionate about, that is were the depth of who you are is hidden. Adventure and creating memories that will comfort me when I'm old. Dignity for those in the beginning of their life as well as the end. End of life care that is rooted in living in the moment.

PHILOSOPHY

The joy of opening up and connecting with another human being always outweighs the void that is left when they are gone. The adventure is always worth the risk. Memories are real.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I host often and whenever I can. I tell everybody I know about it because quite honestly I think it is the best way to travel.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have hosted many times in the three different states I have lived in including Las Cruces, NM., Berea, Ky. and St. Louis. I have also surfed including two great experiences in India --one that resulted in a beach party for twenty people, complete with a band and fish cooked over an open fire a mere five hours after I arrived in town.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One I cajoled three other women to explore a natural hot spring in Jemez, New Mexico. We didn't anticpate the foot of snow or that we would go to the wrong place twice or the car getting stuck. We finally found the right spot. We walked down a ravine, crossed a bridge and went up the side of the mountain. It was full moon night, it was snowing lightly and we were soaking in this hot spring surrounded by pine trees, rock and ravine. MAGIC!

Teach, Learn, Share

My meager wisdom at 40...

There are different kinds of strength. Some people are rocks and others are rivers. Never try to be a rock when you are the fluid strength of a river.

Living a life full of stories is the best way to live without regret. It is contagious.

It doesn’t matter if you are a woman or a man, a child or an adult. Everyone needs room to breathe life into their imaginations and a space to create their own reality--one that is far removed from the scrutiny of the world, where personal demons can be greeted and tamed, where angels can be entertained and minds can freely swim the waters of contemplation. Because it is here in this safe quiet, we touch divinity and for a moment hold in our palms the power to create and give birth to ourselves.

Sometimes when you let the path unfold gently, you find yourself in places you never imagined. Places so big and beautiful they don't fit into your head. You can't think your way to these destinations. You can only feel your way through the heart. So let’s walk together and face the unknown. The journey is as important as the destination.
