About Me
CURRENT MISSION
make more smoothies, learn how to sail, go on a bicycle tour, find a job/internship/volunteer position in something that inspires me, work on a farm, hike, start making music, get better at french conjugation
ABOUT ME
I want to make a positive change in the world. I get along really well with most people, and I try my hardest to stay out of personal dramas. I graduated from Florida State University with a degree in environmental studies. I'm hoping to eventually go on to study chronic disease epidemiology and medical sociology.
my ~personal philosophy~ is very important to me.
At the top of my list of things to do is to go on a sailing trip up the east coast of the united states, so if you're doing that and are looking for a traveling partner/crew member, please let me know! I can tie knots and I learn quickly.
PHILOSOPHY
Joy and pain are two sides of the same coin, so to speak. I'm interested in dualities and contrasts, and accepting my experiences without judgement (this is hard, but for me it's always a good goal). I'm also a big believer that they stuff we hate doesn't make us special. I do not hate.
I'm also a big fan of moderation.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I started out by staying with people informally through conferences and regional meet-ups, and they kept mentioning that they were involved with couchsurfing. I decided to give more formalized couch-surfing a go, and I'm so glad I did.
Interests
I love biking, adventuring, reading, learning, talking, seeing new places, and exploring. I love spontaneity, but I'm also a sucker for a plan sometimes. I'm very interested in learning more survival/outdoor skills and in going on a semi-long backpacking trip. I'd like to go on a bicycle tour!

Music, Movies, and Books
The MaddAddam Trilogy is so good!
Music... is nice. My favorite musician is Andrew Bird, closely follwed by EVERYTHING EVER. that's not much help. I like hip-hop, american folk music, indie country-rock (see rilo kiley), electronic music of many sorts (although I'm not a fan of dubstep, as I see (hear) it, I prefer my music a bit more subtle). Lately I've been listening to a lot of Mykki Blanco, CocoRosie, Princess Nokia, The Max Levine Ensemble, RVIVR, Rilo Kiley, Laura Stevenson and the Cans, The Residents, RATATAT, Zebra Katz, and and and and I'll always have mad love for TALLAHASSEE/FLORIDA BANDS: Dog Years, Atomic Dog, The Wabbits, Ex-Breathers, Atrocitus, Gorgeous, Bat Magic Preservation Society, Desgraciadas, Seattle Fucking Supersonics, ETC.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One of my favorite experiences thus far has been when I got the chance to go snorkeling in the Florida Keys over winter break with some friends. I felt very small and vulnerable in the ocean, and I was reminded that there are worlds within worlds. We also saw plenty of sharks and got to get up close to a dancing sea turtle.
Teach, Learn, Share
I know how to make fire with a bow drill, and I can carve spoons. This head of mine is filled with information that comes out at unexpected times.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can offer warm hugs, good listening skills, good questions, a very willing discussion partner, lots of adjectives that are not actually adjectives, my sewing ability and friendship!
I could also help you or you friends pick up some phrases in French.
