About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To see and come to understand as much of the world and as many different people as possible

ABOUT ME

Hi! I'm a graduate of the University of Illinois in Political Science and Spanish, currently living in Guadalajara, MX. My dad is a Mexican immigrant and I spent a large part of my childhood being raised by my Mexican grandparents, so I am very familiar with the Mexican culture and am completely fluent in Spanish. I have always traveled a lot with my family and have been very fortunate to be able to study both in England (during high school) and in Spain before attending university. Having grown up in a big family with my abuelita's cooking, my first love has always been a lively conversation over a good meal and a little music too :P. I love Chicago and everything that goes with it and am always down for showing or telling people whatever I can about it. After all, seeing things through the eyes of a tourist is the only real way to keep appreciating things :). I am a very open person and am always interested in learning something new be it a new language or a new recipe, but mostly I love meeting new people wherever I go and creating those personal connections which I think are truly the spice of life.

PHILOSOPHY

My personal goal in life is to learn as much as possible so that I might understand as best as possible the world I live in and hopefully leave it better than I found it. In pursuit of this goal I believe that every kind of education is important, be it scholastic, professional, or (most excitingly) the informal education that journeying through life affords you. I am most excited about meeting new people and hearing their tales of new and unexplored places. I just hope to be half as interesting as the fascinating people I've met abroad. :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Though I joined years ago, it's not until recently that I've begun to get involved in the CS community, and so far my only regret has been that I didn't start earlier. The few people I've met so far through CS have been fantastic and the conversations are never dull.

My girlfriend and I have been living in Guadalajara for a few months and are traveling around the region. We're down go out for drinks or coffee with visiting CSers and might even have a couch open during the week.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've attended a few CS meetings down in Champaign and have befriended a few couch surfers, but have yet to actually actively participate in the program myself. I would love to host or get coffee with someone even though I live a little ways off the beaten path, and I hope to have some positive CouchSurfing experiences over the summer.
