About Me

I like to be outdoors, adventuring, exploring, gardening, you name it. I especially like hiking, cycling, climbing, surfing and swimming. I love to learn new things and dive straight into any project that looks likely to be fun and/or worthwhile. I like to chat, put the world to rights, explore different views and angles. Above all, I love a good story.

I'm studying to be a teacher at the moment, in a particular kind of school called a Waldorf or a Steiner school. I'm really enjoying my course and can talk about it for hours, so careful not to ask if you're not too interested.

Since graduating from university, I've been travelling very, very slowly, just moving to live in a new place each year. I've gone from Edinburgh to the Isle of Skye to Manchester to Donegal to Galway to Stuttgart. On the way I've unlearned, learned and re-learned, lost some things and found others and so on. Its been a kind of trajectory from escapism through activism and towards community. I really like my bike so I turned each move into an epic bike ride. I'd say that's why I've still not gone so far...

I'm looking to settle down in the not so far future, somewhere in a sustainable, resilient and joyful community, near the mountains and the sea, with a Waldorf school, forests, bees, clean rivers, blue skies.... Hopefully, before then I'll have a bit of time and a way to get on my bike and explore the world a bit more. Just now I'm dreaming of Iran.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I started on Couchsurfing a few years back. I've had many memorable experiences, great guests and amazing hosts. Its a good way to connect and my life would not have been the same without it.

Interests

I think everything is interesting if you look closely enough and I really like to be introduced to things it wouldn't have occurred to me to explore. I try to keep as open a mind as possible and love challenges that show me where I've closed it.
