About Me

Hello! My name is Ewelina but you can call me Ewe - the abbreviation that became my nickname in France.
I have been living in Paris since 2009. My studies and work have always kept me in the multicultural environment and I love it. I love switching between all the languages that I know and learning interesting facts about other cultures. I enjoy very much language puns and jokes, I am a "language aficionado" ;-) I am an introvert that needs a lot of downtime with a book and a coffee (opening a coffee shop is one of my dreams - I am still looking for a courage to take that step). But I also do enjoy a lot a good company whith whom I can share stories and jokes. I appreciate people with a good, a little absurd sense of humour.

When requesting to stay at my place, out of courtesy, please make reference to some of the things metioned in my profile to show that you have read it. This will make me decide whether to accept or refuse the request. Also important! I can host you for one night or two, maybe three depending on my schedule. On the weekday, I'm back from work around 7:30pm to welcome you at home.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I would like to start couchsurfing "on my own" for different reasons:
- I have been co-hosting couchsurfers with my boyfriend, who is an "expert couchsurfer", but I have never received guests by myself - those occassions shared were always great and enriching experiences,
- One day, I would like to also give couchsurfing a try - it would be lovely if it happens during my next trip to New York (not planned yet but on my "to-do list"),
- This is a way for me to get out of my comfort zone, meet new people that I would never cross the path of and do it all in my own house - sounds ideal for an introvert ;-)

Music, Movies, and Books

Lots of them... I couldn't live without music, I can listen to almost any kind of music, depening on my mood and activity. I grew up listening to Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Queen and...classical music (thanks to my parents who went to a music school but ended up on chemistry studies). My first idol was and remains Sting (I was even in his fanclub), I adore all the music from Spanish-speaking countries which I find very deep and moving; I am having fun listening to the 70s-80s-90s hits and I can go from Withesnake to Chopin in one day and back to Fritz Kalkbrenner. When I am under the weather, I will listen to Jamie Callum and Jeff Lorber, when I am feeling cosy, I will put Norah Jones. I adore « Kind of blue » by Miles Davies and the group called « Saint Germain » and also the Hôtel Costes compilations which remind my of my highschool vacations in Paris. ...It's a whole musical rainbow.
When it comes to books, I read hundreds of them so far. I loved Harry Potter and "Eat, pray, love" (and not ashamed of it), "The Master and Margarita" of Mikhail Bulgakov, "The Godfather" by Mario Puzo, the masterpieces of Polish writers and poets: Witold Gombrowicz, Slawomir Mrozek, Halina Poswiatowska, and "Rayuela" by Julio Cortazar (this is my "magical" book which somehow marked the summer in which I felt that I was turining into an adult)...
When it comes to movies, I should rather mention some of my favourite directors: Pedro Almodovar, Woody Allen, Roman Polanski, François Truffaut, Stanely Kubrick, Martin Scorsese, Claude Lelouche, Jim Jarmush, Denis Arcand, Francis Ford Coppola, Tim Burton (but more for his drawings), Gaspard Noé, Alejandro Gonzalez Innaritu... The list is non-inclusive. The films that I could watch again and again are The Godfather, Goodfellas, One upon a time in America, Frida, My blueberry nights and ...Bridget Jones and Sex and the City series :-) as well as some Polish classics from my parents’ generation and my childhood years.
