About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To maximize my experience on this beautiful planet we call home.

ABOUT ME

UPDATE: Traveling at the moment! Will return to hosting again once I'm all settled in with a new home base!

Homegrown California boy currently rocking out in Madrid! Open mind, down for anything and everything. I try to maintain that endless sense curiosity we all have as kids. Intrigued by anything and everything this wonderful world has to offer. I question everything, and refuse to settle on simply being told what is and what isn't. Experience is essential. I have an intense craving for novelty and change, and tend to bend with the cycles of nature rather than oppose them.

I find every new person, place, and thing I'm lucky enough to encounter of incredible interest, and celebrate the differences and similarities inherent in everyone and everything. With the dawn of the Internet and amazing organizations such as this one the difficulty in getting to know each and every part of this planet is gradually diminishing. I believe we're living in times of incredible global growth and change, and am downright happy to be part of this beautiful process. I'm probably a bit insane but who isn't these days?

I'm a recent graduate currently teaching English in Madrid. After finishing my degree in International Studies and Spanish I decided to move to Spain in order to take a breather as well as improve my Spanish. Moved here back in September but just settled in a brand spankin' new flat and ready and willing to participate!

PHILOSOPHY

"The idea is to remain in a state of departure while always arriving. It saves on introductions and goodbyes. The ride does not require explanation - just occupants."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Have done my fair share of both hosting and surfing. Also have attended some vents in Madrid.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Hosted some folks while I was still at university in New York and loved every bit of it! Then got to do my fair share of surfing throughout Europe this summer. Now currently back to hosting in Madrid.

Interests

Life and everything in between.

  • walking
  • traveling
  • surfing

Music, Movies, and Books

Life imitating art imitating life.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Currently have a video of myself cross-dressed as Dora the Explorer on Youtube that has well over 3 million hits by now. Hahha don't believe me? See it for yourself: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sgpONnOSnZM

Legitimately almost died in an insane car accident while touring the Salts Flats of Bolivia. Basically careened over a freakin' cliff and rolled twice before landing upside down. Bolivians don't mess around.

Had the pleasure of consuming San Pedro and going on a spirit quest with a Peruvian while I was in Cuzco. Fun stuff, man.

Spent this August 2013 walking the Camino del Santiago. 29 days walking 780 km across northern Spain.

Teach, Learn, Share

"What lies before us and what lies behind us are small matters compared to what lies within us. And when we bring what is within out into the world, miracles happen."

"We do not see things as they are, we see things as we are."

"Do or do not; there is no try."

"Words are but symbols for the relations of things to one another and to us; nowhere do they touch upon absolute truth."

"In the particular is contained the universal."

"A man is but the product of his thoughts, what he thinks, he becomes."

"The quest is to be liberated from the negative, which is really our own will to nothingness. And, once having said yes to the instant, the affirmation is contagious. It bursts into a chain of affirmations that knows no limit. To say yes to one instant, is to say yes to all of existence."

Apart from all that jibberish I have sent the past 2 years teaching English, so if you'd want some pointers feel free to ask!
