Overview
About Me
I feel super old having been on here since 2006 - since then the site has changed and old "profile headings" seem to be gone but I think they were really nice so I'm keeping them:
CURRENT MISSION
- Raising my daughters to be strong, bad-ass humans who don't take crap from anyone while navigating the intricacies of co-parenting with their dad (the former other half of this profile)
- Broadening my horizons on mental health - I may be a physician but that doesn't mean I have to be narrow minded!
PHILOSOPHY
"Make love not war" in combination with "shit happens"
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I joined CS 2 years into med school (2006) wanting to meet new people. And boy was I in for a ride! Over the years I've met some true friends and had the great pleasure of hosting and getting to hear the stories of so many fascinating people. This community is unique in so many ways and even though having small kids/divorce/Covid have made it impossible to host for the last few years it's still something that I would like to come back to as soon as it will be doable again.
Interests
Quite varied but include all forms of reading and watching movies.
As I work in the mental health field that's a special area of interest for me - right now I'm pretty deep into PTSD and psychedelic research for example...
I also really like getting out into nature - be it for longer hiking trips or just for a day trip to the nearby forest.

Music, Movies, and Books
My absolute favourite movie is Monty Python and the Holy Grail, but most stuff made my Hayao Miyazaki and WesAndersom is pretty high up the list as well (especially Spirited Away and Life Aquatic!)
Growing up and in my early 20's I was a big fantasy sci-fi-nerd (Harry Potter-series, Asimov, Tolkien, Sapkowski) but lately I've realized I'm more into non-fiction... Reading Bessel van der Kolk's "The Body Keeps the Score" atm and am honestly blown away.
Regarding music? Oy vey. Very mixed bag here. Maybe the most common forms of pop don't appear that often in my playlists(although Britney Spears'"Toxic" is effing magical) but apart from that it's a very wide spectrum - from country to classical through heavy metal to psy-trance. Gogol Bordello, Metallica, Esbjörn Svensson Trio and Frank Zappa are quite special to me.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
My most amazing feat used to be having held a beating human heart in my hand but in the last years that has been replaced by the very common (most of the world's women do it!) yet oh-so-magical experience of giving birth - both times!
Teach, Learn, Share
I make a pretty mean Swedish chocolate cake actually.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Considering my profession I generally tend to walk around quietly diagnosing people I interact with. Maybe you're curious what your personality disorder might be? :-D
