ABOUT ME
First generation Australian with Scottish and Greek ancestry. Someone nicknamed me Grot (Greek/Scottish combo). I love my cats. Big fan of sleeping and reading. Have periods of time when I love to cook, particularly for others, then I go through a 3 minute noodle phase. Love music, creativity, talking a lot! Have read so much I know lots of useless things.
PHILOSOPHY
I eat therefore I am...seriously, mind, body and soul all are intertwined and must be in harmony for your life to work. Neglect one part and another reflects that neglect.
2.Acceptance of different lifestyles as long as they are not hurting other people and are consensual.
3. Everyone has a story to tell and is going through or has been through something tough.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Sharing my accumulated knowledge. Hopefully sharing some fun/interesting times with the global community. Hosting once I am settled in a place again. Propagating a sense of community and kindness into a world that seems to focus on what is bad and wrong, not what is wonderful about being human.

Music, Movies, and Books
Stella Gibbons - cold comfort farm, Janet Evanovich - Peter Carey - Bliss...huge reader...so would need lots of pages to continue..Music is also a big part of my life. Love to share and discover new music - world, jazz, classical, through to house/garage, disco queen, latin etc.....just dislike anything that grates on your nerves, rather something that is mellow or revs you up depending on how you feel or what you need. Movies - european preferred to american mainstream. Arthouse. Documentaries. British comedies.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
snorkelling with the sea lions in the middle of nowhere with only 4 of us. Totally unspoilt undiscovered nature reserve in clear blue waters with a little island, teeming with coral and fish...
Camping on a salt flat in the middle of nowhere..the stars are amazing. Western Australia has some of the most remote places which can be hard to find elsewhere.
Teach, Learn, Share
Do not assume your definition of 'normal' is someone else's. Normal to me just means a majority of people think or do the same about something ie. having 2.5 kids and mowing the lawn on sundays. Living in a society where you could be bombed anyday you wake up could be considered 'normal' to people experiencing it somewhere in the world. I think they should ban that word really...it is so misleading. Have you ever noticed how people stare at someone who does not fit that moniker? they might be in a wheelchair or be talking to themselves. Take a minute and look past the difference. Working with people with severe mental illness has changed my 'normal' which includes someone hallucinating while I am with them. How difficult would that be? imagine trying to pay attention to the tangible world when you are hearing/seeing/smelling things that aren't really there. Has lead to some interesting conversations...about ninjas and cow people :)
