ABOUT ME

I adore adventure of all sorts! I really like exploring especially wilderness areas. I much prefer the countryside and small towns to big cities, though I do enjoy a visit to a good large city sometimes. Too much commotion flusters me, and then I like to be by myself. The part of me that desires adventure is always put up against the part of me that desires naps. Oh how I adore naps.

I also very much enjoy reading (I love stories, A LOT) and hanging out on the Interwebz. Hopefully if you meet me though, I will be out and about doing fun things, and not spending all of my times teaching my eyes to focus on close objects.

I really like the ride my bicycle around, and I love to smile and laugh.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I hope that one day someone will request my couch in Rochester, New York, and actually be intending on visiting Rochester and not New York City--which is six hours away. I am disappointed every time :(

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have surfed a bunch of couches while hitchhiking around France. I have also attended several couchsurfing events. Every couchsurfing encounter I have had thus far has been fantastic :).

Probably my favorite couchsurfing experience was when a fellow couchsurfer and I decided to hitchhike from Paris to Strasbourg. About half way there we got picked up by a man from Yuhoslavia (Kosovo to be more specific), who spoke English, and could certainly understand us both very well. Our sign said we were going to Strasbourg, we told him we were going to Strasbourg. He told us that that was where he was going, but that he was going to take the back roads since his boss pays for the trip and pays for the tolls, so if he avoids the toll roads he could keep the money and buy beer with it. Shortly after he explained this, he stopped to buy some beer to drink on the ride. He was telling us about his life, and we were having a good time chatting (albeit a bit scary as he started to become a bit tipsy). We then see a sign telling us that we were headed toward Paris. Ivan assures us that we are not going to Paris. We are going to Strasbourg. We didn't have too much of a choice but to stay with him, as no one else was on this road and it was raining so we didn't really want to stand by the road right then anyway. In a bit we have to stop for a pee break. Ivan decides to pee on the gas station. My hitch hiking partner and I decided to use the restroom inside. We then chat up the men at the counter who laugh at us when we ask if this road leads to Strasbourg. Ivan continuously assures us that we are not headed to Paris, that we are headed toward Strasbourg. We ended up back in Paris that night.
