ABOUT ME
We are two middle aged children who are inquisitive and open minded. We love reading, cooking vegan food, watching strange movies, learning, exploring, meeting new people with new ideas.
PHILOSOPHY
Fill your bowl to the brim
and it will spill.
Keep sharpening your knife
and it will blunt.
Chase after money and security
and your heart will never unclench.
Care about people's approval
and you will be their prisoner.
Do your work, then step back.
The only path to serenity.
Success is as dangerous as failure.
Hope is as hollow as fear.
What does it mean that success is as dangerous as failure?
Whether you go up the ladder or down it,
your position is shaky.
When you stand with your two feet on the ground,
you will always keep your balance.
What does it mean that hope is as hollow as fear?
Hope and fear are both phantoms
that arise from thinking of the self.
When we don't see the self as self,
what do we have to fear?
See the world as your self.
Have faith in the way things are.
Love the world as your self;
then you can care for all things.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Never had a bad one! Well okay, there was the time that crazy Russian dude walked right through the sliding glass door in our apartment in China, but it wasn't really his fault, I guess!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Meeting Monique and packing my life into two suitcases and moving to Holland (and then China, Viet Nam and Morocco) to be with her. The only really clever thing I ever did.
Teach, Learn, Share
Always interested to learn about the real history of places we live (not the propaganda in the books) from people who've lived it. Happy to share what I've gleaned from reading about Buddhism/Anarchism/Economics if anyone's interested, but I'm still on the learning curve myself.
Countries I’ve Visited
Belgium, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Romania, Singapore, Switzerland, United Kingdom
Countries I’ve Lived In
