About Me
Hi~ I originally come from Hong Kong, now I'm living and working in Oxford city as an environmental consultant specializing in the UK national emissions data. I worked in Kenya for United Nations Environment Programme from 2018-2020.
2 truths and a lie about me, guess which one is a lie :)
a) I am a Freemason.
b) I have a wife and 7 kids.
c) I was once physically 10 metres away from the president of France.
"...... Tell me, what else should I have done?
Doesn't everything die at last, and too soon?
Tell me, what is it you plan to do
with your one wild and precious life?"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Couchsurfing is a rare opportunity to make meaningful connections with interesting people. Sometimes a random sentence said by a couchsurfer you meet on your journey, may somehow someday become the most important idea that change your life. I enjoy this kind of "Medici effect".
To see the world, things dangerous to come to, to see behind walls, draw closer, to find each other and to feel. That is the purpose of life.
Interests
I'm always curious and hungry for new experiences. On my 30th birthday, I took a week to write down my "Bucket List" - it has over 200 items, including items like forging a sword, collecting meteorites, walking the Camino de Santiago, running a vertical farm, start an online shop about ancient civilizations, and visiting Mars.
I made a video about my Bucket list (with English subtitle):

I have (well, "had" - too busy at work, haven't updated it for years) a knowledge based YouTube channel in Cantonese (with Eng subtitle), with 2000 subscribers.
I love reading.
I love movies and music and art and literature.
Love topics like psychology, culture, history, environment ...etc.
I can play Chinese flute (or known as Dizi), was in a Chinese orchestra when young. I can play piano, grade 8 (but not a very good player actually).
Love to learn about cultures and religions and beliefs of different countries.
I am SUPER interested in ghost stories, UFO, myths, urban legend, superstitions and supernatural things in different countries. I firmly believe that these stories can always show the worldview, culture and value of a place. So please tell me if you got these stories!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
2020: moved to the UK by myself.
2018: I quit my stable government job in Hong Kong, went to Kenya to join UN as unpaid intern, then later work as a consultant on air monitoring.
2016: My first solo trip in Central Europe for 1.5 month.
2014: Part of the crowd in 2014 Hong Kong Umbrella Movement, sitting on the main road in business centre with thousands of Hongkonger, facing tear gas, feeling hopeless towards our international city's future under China's rule.
2013: I visited Finland in winter, my friend asked if I want to try "swimming in an ice lake", and I said "Why not?". And so I did it :) [see it in my photo]
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach some Chinese, and share some Chinese culture things, for example, I can play Chinese flute, I know a little Tai Chi.
[I Ching]
I have studied and attended lessons for few years about the "I ching (the Book of Changes)".
It can be seen as the origin of Chinese philosophy.
But I read it to learn its Wisdom, I do not use it for "fortune telling". I can teach you some basics about I Ching, like how to interpret those symbols. [ see my Photos]
-2019: have been planning (for several years already) to write a "Lord of the Rings / Game of Throne / Star War" style fantasy fiction based on I Ching, and make a card game out of it. It will be a huge project for me.
As a Hong Kong-er, I can share everything I know and feel about Hong Kong, e.g. culture, movies, music, stories, politics ... like democracy in Hong Kong and China, the Umbrella Movement in 2014 and more recent events in 2019.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Stories, experience, ideas.
I can cook some Chinese dishes.
I can teach simple Chinese.
