About Me

CURRENT MISSION: To get to know the world, so I may get to know myself.

I'm quick to smile, curious, open minded, adventurous and brainy. I love learning and discovering things, whether its the meaning of a song, the life story of a person, the flavour of a delicious dish, a different philosophy to my own, or a view out in the mountains.

I like pushing my comfort zone when I get the chance. I also like the more mundane: people, films, the outdoors, books, cooking/sharing good food, a glass of wine, but give me a nice crazy party here and there to round it all out.

Deep down I'm a quite a geek, and I take it in stride. Above all, I like to live, enjoy and make the most of the now.

PHILOSOPHY
I am trying out a new one: Nowhere to be, nothing to do, nobody to become.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am looking for adventure, not just the usual, external kind, but also the one that comes from coming in contact with people's internal worlds. I'd like to share experiences, and to learn a thing or two, about you, and about myself.

Interests

Adventure (esp. rock climbing, hiking, camping, but will try anything twice), inner and outer knowledge, film, dance, politics, pragmatic environmentalism.

Now also expanding into yoga, honest self-expression, relating and exploring touch as a means to true, safe intimacy, massage, tantra and meditation.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies, stuff that makes you think, quirky, beautiful: Pulp fiction, 12 Monkeys, Inception, Sex and Lucia, Butterfly Effect (director's cut), Bladerunner, Donnie Darko, Motorcycle Diaries, The Science of Sleep, L'auberge espagnole.

Books: Brave New World, Nineteen Eighty Four, Robinson Crusoe, The Alchemist, La casa de los espiritus, Harry Potter, Cien Años de Soledad

Music, very eclectic, anything from Argentine rock, through to world music/folk fusion, passing by some trancey electronic tunes, all the way to Beethoven. Enjoying a lot of psydub lately.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've been awestruck by the fragrance of acres and acres of wild flowers in the middle of the Australian desert.
Swam in the holy Ganges and witnessed the burning ghat in the holy city of Varanasi in India, where the dead a cremated in the open.
I've danced naked and blindfolded, and in a state of trance I experienced my own power and divinity (no drugs involved :).

But more important than all of these, it's the small things. I've shared simple but sincere moments where time stops, where I've felt a rush, that sudden realisation that this is what it is all about—connecting truly in the now.

Teach, Learn, Share

Can teach: English, Spanish, salsa, bachata, rock climbing, technology (software, web, machine learning), radical honesty and authentic relating techniques.

I'd like to learn a little French and German.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Some say that I can cook some pretty tasty home made pasta (learnt it from my mamma), and do love to make curries or just about any tasty recipe that might be lying around. Ohh and of course an Argentinean asado, or empanadas. Yum, I'm salivating writing this!
