Hi! My name is Fabian - or Fab for short - and I am a 27 year old filmmaker. I am a half-Chilean and half-British son of 2 opera singers, so I grew up all over Europe, and as a result I grew up surrounded by different cultures and languages. I am currently based in Vienna, Austria.
I studied in the UK, where did English Lit and Creative Writing, specialising in scriptwriting for TV and Film. After that, I entered the film industry, as a writer, then editor, and now currently spend my time behind the camera.
I am a freelancer, but mostly work with BBC News travelling around Europe chasing the latest stories, such as the development of the refugee crisis.

Because of my upbringing travelling all over the world, I have always been quite a social person who makes friends really easily. However, also due to all that travelling as a kid, I didn't really feel that drive to travel that much in my early adulthood that so many other people have.
I am currently trying to change that. My first destination is Los Angeles, CA. which I am planning to visit at the end of April 2017.

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

During the peak of the European refugee crisis in 2015-2016, I spent several months travelling around the European borders documenting the path of the refugees, a journey that took me from trains, to stations to refugee camps and back again. I had the fortune of meeting incredible people and heard many personal stories.

If you are interested in music or film, I can have long conversations about everything from the appreciation to technique, theory and practice of these two disciplines.
Being a documentarist at heart, I am always interested to learn about people's personal life stories and journeys. I believe humankind is the greatest encyclopaedia, and we can all learn from each other's virtues and mistakes if we just take the time to listen.

As I mentioned above, I can happily share and teach the skills I have learned in my professional life, as well as share (teach sounds a bit too much, I think...) what I have learned in my rather nomad life across Europe.
