About Me
CURRENT MISSION
short trips across Europe with my girlfriend Sasha.
ABOUT ME
Hi, I'm Fabian!
Friends describe me as an open-minded person. I'm very communicative and during my travels I try to lern at least some of the basic vocabulary of the country's language to speak to the locals in their native tongue.
I'm open for interesting dialogues about almost everything, I want to learn more about different cultures and history.
I'm very interested in classical literature, in architecture and in arts.
PHILOSOPHY
I'm not a number for tourism statistics, I'm an individual human being.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
In my opinion you learn the most about a country if you live together with individuals. Traveling is all about meeting people.
Connecting with locals is awesome. You don't feel like a tourist anymore. You feel like a friend.
For me it's also important to talk a lot with people about recent topics like politics, but also ethics. Everybody has a different opinion but just through hearing other opinion you will be able to reflect and develop your own one.
People on couchsurfing are a cool community, which is not profit based. That's an idea, which I would really like to support. Unfortunately I'm currently not able to host anyone here at my home, but in return I would like to enrich the life of the people I meet during my journeys.
Music, Movies, and Books
MUSIC
I guess I could name a good artist in almost any genre (but I'm not into metal tho). My taste is pretty diverse and I love to listen to new stuff.
I like singer-songwriters, small bands people who have passion and make music to express themselves. I'm not a big fan of mainstream-pop and trashy hip-hop.
Also I'm really into techno and dark underground raves.
So if you want to know more about my taste in music, I would suggest to sit down together and just discuss each others spotify/applemusic etc.. Maybe we will find some inspiration in each other.
MOVIES
I've seen some movies and I can participate at least a bit in conversations about them, but in general I prefer books over movies.
Just to name a few which I liked:
Perfect Sense,
Seven,
Inception,
The Lobster,
Dallas Buyers Club,
Wes Anderson movies
BOOKS
I'm into classic literature, also philosophy.
Books for me are also a primary source for new information, I prefer them over the internet. I like to read about arts and architecture, and I love books about traveling.
To name some fiction, which I liked:
George Orwell - 1984,
Franz Kafka - der Process,
Mario Puzo - the Godfather
F. Scott Fitzgerald - The Great Gatsby
Ray Bradbury - Fahrenheit451
also I love poetry, trying to get a glimpse of Pushkin and Turgenev currently
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
joined a local Balinese Hindu ceremony, hitchhiking in Jordan, hitchhiking in Russia, tattooed myself,
Teach, Learn, Share
We all must learn so much more about ourselves and our world. What is happiness? How much do I need to consume to be happy? What do we want to achieve in life?
I'm not sure if I will ever find the answer to those questions. But through traveling, and especially through couchsurfing I hope to come closer.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'm okay at cooking and I can try to serve some German specialities, but please don't expect Bratwurst or Schnitzel, I'm veggie.
I love to discuss recent politics, ethical questions and traveling experiences.
And I could tattoo you if you want, so far I've only done it on myself, but I'm still alive!!!
