About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Travelling the world and meet people from all over the world :)
ABOUT US
Fabienne (31) and Benoit (33). We've been together for a little bit over 10 years now and got married in 2016 in our home country: Switzerland.
Together we founded our little web development company and run a travel blog and decided to give a try on a fully nomadic lifestyle. (more about this below)
Easy going, polite, on time and respectful (we're swiss after all haha), we like to try new things and exchange about various topics such as travels, new technologies, web development, photography, etc.
After our studies we moved to Vienna to get our first work experience. We stayed there for 2 years, and really loved this experience.
But routine was nothing for us, and therefore we decided to quit our jobs and leave for a round the world trip in August 2013... Asia, Australia and South America, and Europe. This trip was supposed to last 12 months, but it the end it ended up being 19 ;)
After returning to Switzerland we decided to move to the wonderful city of Zurich where Benoit started working as a software developer while Fabienne worked as a project manager in a tech company.
After 18 months of being "back to normal" we were missing travelling a lot. Besides our regular job we started doing some fun web development projects as freelancers. Once we got enough experience we decided to quit our jobs and go travel/work full-time again.
Thus, since August 2016 we no longer have an official place we call "home". Our home redefines over the months. In the last year we've lived 6 months in Thailand, 2 month in Spain, spent one month hiking and camping in the swiss alps (we followed the famous via alpina hiking trail and crossed Switzerland from east to west through the alps).
We make a living by developing websites for several companies in the tourism industry, through affiliate marketing on our travel blog, selling photography and by sharing our knowledge on social media and SEO by doing workshops for travel agencies/hotels/destinations.
At the beginning of our trip, a travel blog to share our round the world tour experience. This blog somehow became our "little baby" and we continue to regularly share our adventures on it. The blog is in french, but do not hesitate to take a look if you want to see a little more about what we do! :) http://www.novo-monde.com

PHILOSOPHY
Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Couchsurfing is not aimed to be a free way to stay somewhere, like a free hotel, we believe it is much more than this! You'll never be able to discover a country and a culture as well as if you meet local people! Sharing stories, food, experiences and having fun that's "our way of seeing couchsurfing".
When we host we expect our guests to be polite, respect our schedule (if we have one) and take some time to get to know each other.
When surfing we like to prepare meals for our hosts. We're definitively not the best cooks, but we master some easy dishes and are happy to share them with you.
If you're afraid of our cooking skills then you can trust us for bringing a good bottle of wine.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
During our two years in Vienna we had an extra small bedroom in our apartment, so we decided to use this extra room to host couchsurfers! This was probably one of the best decisions we took, we had really a lot of fun meeting new people from around the world and show them a little bit of the "insider Vienna".
During our round the world trip we had a couple of amazing couchsurfing experiences in China, Ecuador and Finland.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Bryce Canyon, Cyclades, Taj mahal, road trip in the USA, camping in Greece, hiking in Slovenia, enjoying the summer in Switzerland, hiking in Patagonia, Uyuni salt flats, learning spanish in ecuador, walking alone on the great wall of China, watching the sunrise in Angkor Wat, and sooooooo much more....!
Teach, Learn, Share
We both speak french, german english and decent spanish, so if you want to practice one of these languages we'd be happy to talk in this language!
Benoit has some pretty good programming skills and Fabienne used to work as a community manager, so if you have any tech or social media related question we might be able to help... :)
We're also pretty into potography (especially landscape), we'd be happy to talk about material, photography techniques and share what we know.
What I Can Share with Hosts
We would not describe ourselves as great cooks, but still we really enjoy preparing nice meals! :) We discovered many many recipes around the world and we would love to share (worst case scenario, we still can order pizza!) ;)
