About Me

Hi everyone,

I'm Fabio, an easy-going person who enjoys discovering new, interesting places and people. My interests are varied but I would say playing music (violin, piano), languages, cooking, philosophy and going through life with an open-mind seems important to me. I love immersing myself in new cultures through the people I meet on my travels; it reminds me that my "way of life" is just one of many.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

About 2-3 years ago, I hosted (along with my flat-mates) many couchsurfers. I have some fond memories of those times!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Other than the hosting, I used couchsurfing for a month in Italy a couple of years ago, and the experience of meeting, discussing and staying with the people who lived was enriching.

Interests

1. Music - Growing up in a musical family, I couldn't imagine my life without it. The hustle and bustle of a crowded market, voices hollering in an unfamiliar language reminds me that music is everywhere around us.

2. Languages - Much like when you're born, you hear all the music around you, all the sounds you later categorise as words and will gradually learn to use to communicate with. Language learning is a humbling experience and broadens the mind. I enjoy studying the effects of language use in society; does language affect culture or is it culture that changes the way we speak?

3. Cooking - Another integral and revelatory element of society. Integral in the sense that it is at the heart of what defines a nation/society, and revelatory because it shows how people come together and socialise. With food comes social interaction.

4. Traveling - I particularly enjoy the unexpected moments, discoveries and friendships made on a trip.
