About Me

CURRENT MISSION
Let all the streams converge to one river.

ABOUT ME
23, from Torino, Italy, currently living in Antwerpen, Belgium. I work here as au pair, as a break after I attained my Bachelor. I want to explore Belgium as much as I can, alone or with friends. In summer I will go back to my hometown to resume my studies, but that doesn't mean I'll stop travelling!
I am a social person, I just love to stay with the others, be it sitting on a sofa, drinking tea and quietly talking or going out and have a crazy time. I'm generally quiet and laid-back, but I like to get out of that outfit sometimes :)

PHILOSOPHY
Experiences showed me that life flows as it should flow, challenges taught me that I must struggle in order to achieve my goals and dreams. So I try to keep a balance, understand when it is time to fight and when it is time to let it flow.
Interaction with people is to me the greatest source of happiness, though not the only one, and...we all look for happiness in life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because I like to travel, and travelling means to me two things: see places and meet people. What I expect from CS is to get to know people whom I can exchange and share something with, from whom I can learn and to whom I can maybe teach something. Fun, food, stories, adventures, art...anything. And if they can show me the city around, even better!

Interests

I have studied Indian language and literature at the University and been in India for three months in 2012: the Indian culture, with its countless contradictions, fascinates me more and more - as well as its food! I'm also into language learning: to dive into a new language or to teach someone elements of a language I know just makes me happy as a child :)
Meanwhile I started learning to be a professional Shiatsu therapist. Not there yet, but I know how to give a massage.

I grew up by the shade of the Alps, and I learned to explore them, respect them and love them. I'm not an alpinist or an extreme climber, but trekking is a passion, and a better way to spend a summer than going to the seaside. My dream: to trek all the way across the Alps, from west to east, along the GTA (Grande Traversata delle Alpi).

Music, Movies, and Books

I'l try to pick up three elements for each category, which are not necessarily my top 3 ever, but among my favorites.

Music: I appreciate almost every genre, but jazz/fusion is often my first choice. Keith Jarrett, Sigur Ros, Underworld.

Movies: a movie with friends can be good every now and then, but I'm not that much into movies. The Three Colours trilogy (Kieślowski), The Green Mile (Darabont), Whiplash (Chazelle).

Books: this is a big chapter. I just love reading, no matter what. I love that unique feeling of diving among the pages and forget about the world for some time, the good, thick smell of time on the yellowed paper, the gripping style some authors have... Ok, three choices.
The name of the rose (Eco), A man (Fallaci), Watership down (Adams).

Poetry is a world apart. I don't have a favorite poet, but there are poems that have become pieces of me.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Walked 800km in 28 days on the Camino de Santiago/St. James' Way, alone. The most amazing experience of my life so far, which will probably remain unparalleled until I do it again - though one never knows.

Undertaken a train journey of 20hs from Varanasi to Dehradun, India. Something that makes you want to take back every criticism you ever made about the efficiency of public transport in your own country.

Met a girl for few hours during an interview in Italy, kept in touch with her while she was in Ireland, decided tomove to Belgium also thanks to her advices, and eventually met her ten months later in Bruxelles, where she also moved.

Teach, Learn, Share

TEACH: anything I know.
LEARN: anything I don't yet know.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Stories. A well-cooked warm meal. A shiatsu treatment. Some notes on a guitar. A good conversation. A book that I just finished. And a nice breakfast in the morning :)
