About Me
CURRENT MISSION
World domination :)
ABOUT ME
An Australian who has moved around Europe from Spain to France to Lithuania to Germany - but now back un Sydney after many years.
I still feel I am only scratching the surface of this amazing world, and discovering almost anything new is my addiction. In terms of travelling, the current obsession is the many countries and myriad cultures of the former Soviet Union, from Tallinn to Tajikistan. I've also been to North Korea five times!
PHILOSOPHY
Frankly, I am still working this one out for myself.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I only have good things to say, although I have been a bit slack in recent years with too much work-related travel.
Interests
Literature, film, travel (obviously), cycling, theatre, music, nature, writing, architecture, photography, art, philosophy, history, ancient ruins, human nature, good wine, partying and, I must admit, Munich beer. I also have a fetish for interesting cloud formations and the smell of wet autumn leaves.

Music, Movies, and Books
Where do I start? Off the top of my head...books: Ali and Nino, Master and Margarita, The Castle, Auto da Fé, Herodotus, The Third Policeman, I Served the King of England, Bel Ami, Narziss und Goldmund, Bridge on the Drina, The Happy Prince, anything by Ryszard Kapuscinski, early Garcia Marquez, most classic Russian authors, many French authors, Tintin, the list is endless! NOT the Da Vinci Code.
Film: Almodovar, Jeunet, French Nouvelle Vague, the Third Man, Underground (meaning Emir Kusturica, not some kind of cinematic movement), The Garden (a Slovakian film that seems to have completely disappeared), The Man Who Would be King, Down By Law, various offerings by Lars von Trier, Cinema Paradiso, Plan 9 From Outer Space, Dziga Vertov and almost any experimental films from the 1920s, German expressionism, most Kubrick films, some (but not all) Woody Allen films, Being There, Fawlty Towers (not a film I know, but...), even a soft spot for Roman epics...the list is endless.
Music: classical, jazz, rock, Russian pop, chillout, Serbian trumpet music, tango, electronica/trance, 80s classics (like Golden Brown), Iranian music, flamenco (and some gypsy music), duduk (Armenian) music, Sufi qawaali...yes, again, the list is endless.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have been to North Korea five times for work.
