About Me

CURRENT MISSION

The Journey IS the Reward

ABOUT ME

Anne's parents were Peace Corps volunteers and she grew up in Washington DC where her family hosted many exchange students and foreign visitors. She played soccer, volunteered in her community, and went to Catholic school from 1st through 12th grade. In college she studied English and spent her junior year abroad. Always up for an adventure, she has spent a summer researching humpback whale migration in Alaska and another hiking the Camino de Santiago. She taught for 5 years before marrying her college sweetheart and moving to Seattle. Her son was born in 1999 and she decided to stay home with him. Daughter Leah was born 2 years later. Anne still plays on a soccer team every week even though she is old (according to her kids) and works as a part time elementary school teacher.
Noah is a computer geek, golfer, and a great dad. He was raised in NY by professor parents, got his BS in 1991 from Allegheny College, PA and then moved to Boulder, Colorado where he got a job with Anderson Consulting. Seven years later he married Anne and moved to Seattle and now works as a project manager/consultant. He truly relishes family time and is often the instigator of spontaneous outings. He makes a point of being home in time for dinner and participating in family activities.
Alex is a bright and active 14 year old who has a heart of gold lots of big ideas. He likes playing soccer (goalie is his favorite), ultimate frisbee, basketball, tennis, and golf. He also enjoys reading, building things, playing games, and hanging out with his friends.
Leah (12) is our resident pixie. She loves animals and is a natural care giver. Although she takes a bit longer to warm up to new situations and people, she is fiercely loyal and patient once won over. Leah is an avid reader and loves to shop and go to the movies.

PHILOSOPHY

Our family values can be summed up by the golden rule -- treat others as you want to be treated. We value education and service and perspective. We have weekly family meetings and nightly dinners together. We value participation and believe that you get out what you put in (sometimes more).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We are excited to meet new people - especially those with a passion for travel. Our home is all about family - so expect a bit of kid and dog energy mixed in with fun, homework, games, and conversation.

Because we are juggling busy lives, we prefer surfers who can give at least a couple days notice of arrival day/time. Thanks!

Interests

We have returned to Seattle, WA after 13 months of world travel as a family and are excited to begin hosting fellow travelers.
