About Me

I live in a super amazing bungalow in Honolulu, HI and get to use O’ahu as my nature playground. Being able to decompress at a beach or on a trail is truly a luxury.

I have a chameleon named Madame Fleurimonde and she’s an invasive Jackson’s Chameleon so she is now in a mansion next to my bungalow eating critters and not eating endemic species.

I love to explore, whether it is through books, hiking, traveling - I like to keep my mind working and to feel excited about life.

I started a Couchsurfing profile over a decade ago and I never got to take time for myself to travel. I’m really looking forward to start traveling, to meet new people, be in different environments that amaze me, and really to just be more of me. I am a creative type and I think Couchsurfing will serve me well in rediscovering and reinventing that huge part of me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am reverse aging. I want to see more of the world and meet lovely people along the way who might even become good friends. I hope to meet people who want to engage in really great conversation and have beautiful aloha spirit.

Interests

I love all things art. I used to create artwork regularly and I’m in the process of being my creative self again. I thoroughly enjoy trail running (I never thought I’d be a runner but trails are actually enjoyable in comparison to pavement) I also enjoy hiking - I get to do a lot of that here in O’ahu. I enjoy cooking and baking, as it is a creative outlet and way to show love by feeding people. Good wine, great music, and stimulating conversation make me very happy. I must say that I love learning, and I think that Couchsurfing is going to be part of what stimulates that love.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music is a great love of mine. I love a broad range of music, not as in the radio (no offense radio, KTUH you’re still quite good) but music that you can really call great. Sonic Youth is one of my all time favorites for sure and I’m lucky to have seen them! I’ve been listening to Laura Misch and cortoalto lately, I named my last car after the great Fela Kuti, Miles Davis’ Bitches Brew always gets me, and I can still rock some Pixies when I’m in the mood. Bandcamp has the good stuff.

Movies…I like to scope things on mubi, I haven’t been watching much lately bc I like to be outdoors. A Film With Me In It is pretty silly, which is up my alley. La Moustache was quite interesting, and that’s about the latest thing I’ve watched.

Books. I adore Camus. He is my literary love. The God of Small Things is wonderful. Krys Lee is a wonderful author and I will continue to read her books and short stories. I also like to learn about the flora and fauna around me, so I have a few of those hanging out. (Look out Jamaican Verbane, I’m coming to eat you!) I also like to have my art books so Louise Bourgeoisie and a Vitamin P are kickin’ it with me at the bungalow too.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach someone that they can make art even if they don’t think they have the right stuff inside of them. Trust me, it’s true. Plus, the stuff is subjective anyway, right?

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am a very silly person with a bubbling sense of humor. I hope my spirit is inviting enough for someone to host me!
