ABOUT ME

Creative-minded demoiselle of the big metropolis with a penchant for the pastoral. Small towns and big cliffs are my sanctuary. My yoga mat is my magic carpet.

I like my okra extra slimy...some honey and fresh ginger juice in my steamed hemp milk...and a lil' bit o' chili pepper in my dark chocolate don't hurt neither...

Bright colors make me happy.

I am deathly afraid of the cold. (I don't even like walking through the freezer aisles of the supermarket.)

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Everyone's invited for sleepovers in my tree house (it doesn't exist yet...but, oh, it sooooo will). And there will be a swing set. Possibly a vegetable garden, too. Upon entering the property, you'll be prompted by the Royal Guard for the secret password--you'll recognize these guys by their gigantic fuzzy hats and bright red jackets--they'll look just like the guys at Buckingham.

Movies: Little Miss Sunshine, Mystery Train, Ghost Dog, The Princess Bride, The Breakfast Club, Confessions of a Superhero, Wasteland, Babies, Amores Perros, Goodbye, Lenin!, The Red Balloon...anything with Gene Kelly and Audrey Hepburn... Oh, so many... (I hate horror movies. Jurassic Park terrified me...and it's not even a "horror movie.")

Music: The Amelie soundtrack. I like cellos. Cover songs. Depressing singer/songwriter stuff. Etc.

Books: "I Like You" by Sandol Stoddard Warburg, Sartre's "No Exit," travel lit, Latin American lit...quirky social histories of random things...grammar books, dictionaries... Lots. (I majored in English lit back in the day.)

Algo increíble que he hecho

For Halloween, I made a pair of suspender shorts out of balloons and hundreds and hundreds of multi-colored rubber bands. Amazing...if I may say so myself.

My first porcupine sighting in the wild was pretty gosh darn amazing. (Such a cutie pie!)

Waking up at midnight to summit Cotopaxi--with only one contact lens on one eyeball--cause...I lost the other one while trying to put it on in the dark: scary amazing.

I know a coupla aerial circus tricks... How's your grip strength?

I can teach you how to write your non-Arabic name in its transliterated form, in the Arabic script (just please don't ask me to speak Arabic...not right now, anyway :-).

...and in exchange: I want to learn how to play a musical instrument or...at least, be "musical" in some way...like, tap dance. (I can't even snap my fingers. Not even whistle.)
