I'm a Chinese international student living in DC. I came to the US by myself about two and a half years ago. I'm glad that I have successfully adjusted to the lifestyle and I'm having a lot of fun here. I study mathematics and computer science with a minor in dance at American University. My life is pretty much divided into two parts, half of it is filled with numbers, formulas and code and the other half is in the dance studio. I like to visit museums, go to concerts and events, go hiking and bike riding, or just outdoor activities in general. I like to travel when I get the chance and have great conversations with interesting people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm currently planning on a short trip to California, so I'm looking for inexpensive housing options. A friend of mine recommended Couchsurfing to me and it sounded like a cool idea. So here I am!

Music, Movies, and Books

I mostly listen to EDM music, but I like pop as well. Favorite movies, I'd say Gone Girl and Black Swan probably. My favorite book was "Jane Eyre" for a very long time, but it's currently "The Storied Life of A. J. Fikry", a pretty light novel that I finished on my flight back to China and I just fell in love with it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I took the Putnam exam last December! The Putnam exam is a super difficult math test offered annually for undergraduate students across the nation. Among thousands of students who take it every year, the median is almost always around 0/120 (yes it is possible to not score at all even though students who take them are mostly math related majors). I have no idea if I could actually score, but I think taking a 6 hour long math exam is pretty amazing...

I grew up in China. I can tell you a lot about that sort of mysterious country, the people, the weather, the culture etc. I can also teach you some Chinese phrases if you'd like.

I enjoy conversations with people. Hearing about other people's life stories is a pretty amazing experience. Whatever you'd like to share with me, I'm always curious to learn!
