About Me

Hi ^^
I come from a small city in Belgium and am currently a student at KU Leuven (Leuven, Belgium). As you may see I am a second generation Chinese, so I inherited both the Chinese and Belgian sense of humor, although it somehow turned out in a weird way XD

I am overall a happy person, weird, but hopefully in a cute way... I have always dreamed of traveling, but never really got the chance to do it as often as I wanted it. But finally, my time has come and I am at the age where I can just go out and my parents won't worry about me falling into a sewer (joking ;p). But yeah, this me: a weird (cute) girl who likes to travel and make strange jokes ^^

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am currently studying abroad in Beijing (China) for the school year of 2017-2018 and I really hope I can make the best out of this year. That is why I am planning on to visit as many places in Asia as possible, so this will be a once-a-lifetime experience. Since my English doesn't provide me with enough courage on teaching little kids, I guess I am.. well... quite poor T^T This is one of the reasons why I am on Couchsurfing.

Another reason for Couchsurfing is the opportunity to meet different persons from different cultures over the whole world. As a Chinese who grew up in Belgium (a country dived in 3 language zones), I am not unfamiliar with multiculturalism. This is for me a cornerstone of how I look at the world and I find it fantastic! The more I grew up the more cultures I encounter and I think somehow it makes the positive side of me stronger. This energy is what I think a true treasure and for me, through encounters and through communication, it is something that can be shared and passed on.

Music, Movies, and Books

My music taste is on a perpetual changing pattern. But if needed, I would say I really like Chinese indie music and post-rock or rock. My favorite song now (a recommendation): 60km/h by 程曦光廊

As for movies, I think the last movie I have really enjoyed watching is 'scent of a woman'. For the moment I am planning to watch 'filth' (looking forward to McAvoy's groundbreaking acting XD) But overall, i don't really have a specific taste for any genres, if it attracts me, then I will watch it.

There are way too many books that I liked and that I want to read. Same as movies, I don't have any preferences, so I just read whatever attracts me. If a recommendation is preferred, I would say Sherlock Holmes is a delightful bedtime reading! :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most recent amazing thing I have done is joining the astronomy club of my host university on a trip to Hebei (China). We stood all-night on a plateau of sand where there's few light pollution and looked at an amazing scenery of sparkling stars and meteor rain. It was amazing!

Teach, Learn, Share

As I have mentioned before, I think by encounters and communication we can learn from each other's culture and thoughts which hopefully lets us create a deeper look into ourselves and also the world where we live in.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I don't have anything I can 'share' with you, but maybe we can share a good conversation and maybe this will be joyful to the both of us! :)

Countries I’ve Visited

China, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In
