About Me

Hello! My name is Farah and I'm from Jordan, currently doing my master's in Vienna. I'm dreamy, bubbly, curious and very spontaneous. I can be a solitary character sometimes but feel a certain drive to socialize afterwards and re/create meaningful relationships, so still I would come across as a very social person, with quirky traits . I really enjoy being in natural surroudnings, meeting people from all walks of life and exploring different cultures and definitely a big foodie so cooking and eating with people is a big part of the cultural experience ;)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Well, mainly because I thought I want to start exploring more and to begin with Austria, since i'm here and the best way to do so is to visit people and get to know them in their hometowns, where they would have their special view of the place they live in rather than have the stereotypical touristy experience; this is way more enriching in so many aspects!!

Music, Movies, and Books

That's a tough one because I'm completely indecisive and can be moody so really depends on the mood, in a nutshell; very eclectic. At the moment I'm having my morning coffee and listening to Max Richter but I also enjoy listening to electronic, old school punk, rock music.. really depends! Grimes is one of my favourites and lately I've been listening to Mr kitty alot! I like Marina and the diamonds too
When it comes to movies, I really like French cinema..Betty blue, the three colors trilogy.. independant movies and of course some hollywood ones..fight club is definitely one of my favorites! I also enjoy Nadine Labaki's movies, a Lebanese director.. I can't narrow it down to one favourite movie!
Books! Lately I've been diving into theory because of my studies in media art so Marshall Mcluhan is on the list. I'm into philosophy and psychology as well, been reading Carl Jung- Man and his symbols lately and also Freud's interpretationf of dreams.. Dreams are a major factor in my world, I pay attention to them and sometimes I lucid dream which really adds magic to my day to day mundane existence. When it comes to novels I really like Sputnik sweetheart by Haruki Murakami and the unbearable lightness of being by Milan Kundera, these are the ones that popped into my head..

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Jumping in a frozen lake in Poland! Maybe not so unusual for locals but was certainly hilarious when I tried it! impulsive sort of haha..

Teach, Learn, Share

I could teach you some cultural things from Jordan such as a very sad version of Dabkeh, the traditional dance, I say sad because I'm terrible at immitating it! But then I can make you tabouleh and write your name in arabic ;)
Just spontinously learn and share, not very picky and I know that things will unfold naturally so no need to specify! Just talking and getting to know people is always fascinating especially big travellers with so many crazy stories to tell!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I think I already answered this one haha but yeah mainly getting to know each other and exploring local places! listening to music, cooking and having a good time!!

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Egypt, Germany, Lebanon, Poland, Russian Federation, Syrian Arab Republic
