About Me

Trying to become a real person, making art out of indecision, learning everything I can. I'm quiet but I'll open up if I like you and you're funny. I paint complicated abstract stuff and write fiction and play music and stay up really late and wander about at night. I want to experience everything but also I'm shy, oh well

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've been surfing in many places and met some awesome people, and it's saved my life on one occasion at least. I recently moved to Portland OR and am setting up a new life here in the Pacific Northwest. Looking to make new friends and see new things, and host some people when I get an actual couch.

Interests

Painting, drawing, making random art things, writing fiction, reading everything, walking around, water, impatiently watching plants grow, lamps, researching social justice issues, one-note guitar solos, cooking, baking, icy mountains, dinosaurs, dark chocolate

Music, Movies, and Books

Really scattered music taste. Lately into 60s garage rock, 40s sad crooners, heavy dreamy guitars, scary classical piano, non-men everything, ambient stuff, K Lamar, late Radiohead always.

Movies: Miyazaki, David Lynch, Jane Campion, P.T. Anderson, Bergman, also non-pretentious movies

Books: Nabokov, Borges, V. Woolf, Bolano always. Lately Calvino, Janet Frame, W.G. Sebald, Chimamanda Adichie, a few hundred others we can discuss

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I got bit by a moray eel when I was six

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to make some cool origami, fly-fish or tie flies, make croissants (if you have all day) or some kickass cookies, and stay up really late. I love learning interesting skills and facts, especially ones that seem useless or esoteric at first. Also new recipes and cooking methods are awesome.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I usually cook for people who host me or at least give them some wine/coffee/a drawing

Countries I’ve Visited
