SOBRE MI/NOSOTROS

April 16 - 28: From Aix to Italy with my fellow motorcyclist French friend

Most of my traveling (and hosting!) is a little bit of making up for lost time… For my first decade in the United States, I was on a student visa and could only really travel within the country, without having to fill out tons of visa paperwork. So I saw as much of the US as a student on a budget possibly could, and would try to meet other travelers from different parts of the world to make up for the geographic comstraints. Now that I can travel more widely, my partner Roxy and I try to make the most of any opportunity we can get to visit more and more different parts of the world, and continue to occasionally open up our modest home to visitors from near and often far.

ABOUT ME/US

I was born in India, grew up in the Middle East, came to Chicago for college and have stuck around ever since. I now work in medical research, and am learning how to make apps that can help doctors and scientists predict people’s mood and well-being based on how they use their phone’s keyboard, talk to their voice assistants, etc. Roxana was born in Guanajuato, Mexico, and also works in healthcare, saving lives every day as a community health nurse. We mostly travel together, but also sometimes solo.

PHILOSOPHY

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've been hosting, surfing and traveling since July, 2012. We've since been lucky enough to host some of the folks that we have surfed or traveled with, and can't wait to see more of them on the road again soon.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I started out as a Couchsurfer in a public library in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where I had biked all the way from Chicago and placed my first CouchRequest. My very first Couchsurfing friend came through, and I have not had a chance to look back! Even when not surfing or hosting, but staying at hostels or with friends, we often look up couchsurfing meetups when visiting a new city to find interesting people and things to do.
