ABOUT ME

I'm young at heart, and love hosting people in my home and showing them our country. We were fortunate enough to be able to retire young, and so we did get out around the world a bit. I'm a sci-fi fanatic, used to love loud action movies but I saw too much of that in real life, so now its happily ever after please.... although I am a Lee Child fan. Love my kids, love my animals, love everyone. Especially people who let me spoil them just a little

PHILOSOPHY

Being kind to the world just for its own sake, is as good a reason for being as any. In the words of Bill and Ted

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have a comfortable cottage home in a village, just out of the historic town of Te Aroha, in the Waikato. jThere is always room for an extra or two, short term, and I have great pleasure in providing a few tasty treats, and making people feel at home. I half a half acre property, where a little flock of hens potter about during day, and my two young Rottweilers can run around as they please. There are fruit trees,, with some sort of fruit available most of the year.
I have only an hours drive to the beautiful Bay of Plenty beaches, and for those who are Lord of the Rings fans, the Hobbiton set is close by. Gorgeous nature walks, are just 10 minutes away, on Mt Te Aroha.

Sadly, we can only offer accommodation to people who have their own transport, or are happy to hike a bit.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

What strikes us most is how much fun there is in meeting people. Folk come here for the night, and most often find themselves relaxing, unwinding, and then heading off to the beach. We are about an hour from the glorious beaches of the Eastern Bay of Plenty.

Music, Movies, and Books

my Secret vice is Sci Fi / Fantasy with a dot of romance. I get huge fun out of zombies and vampires. ( so far away from reality I don’t start relating and then upsetting myself ).
I still hold Forrest Gump as my favorite movie. Listen to older style music because I like to listen to the music, without being screamed at. ‘ sing... they don’t need to hear you in Australia. ‘
