About Me

CURRENT MISSION

'The only real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes' Marcel Proust

ABOUT ME

I am an independent traveler who believes country borders have become obsolete. Indeed, wars are started by people who know each other and fought among people who don't know each other...if we were to know each other, there wouldn't be any wars!
We are all part of a global community with shifting paradigms. This has many benefits as well as responsibilities. As a community we are yet to work out a way of equally sharing the earth's resources in a sustainable manner. I believe we have a lot to learn from how Indigenous communities around the world interact with mother nature and each other.
I am eager to observe the world through different perspectives, develop meaningful friendships, and have a positive impact wherever I go by sharing what I have and what I know.

PHILOSOPHY

Carpe Diem
Follow your dreams and the Universe will open doors for you where there were only walls

You start dying slowly
if you do not travel,
if you do not read,
If you do not listen to the sounds of life,
If you do not appreciate yourself.

You start dying slowly
When you kill your self-esteem;
When you do not let others help you.

You start dying slowly
If you become a slave of your habits,
Walking everyday on the same paths€
If you do not change your routine,
If you do not wear different colours
Or you do not speak to those you don'€™t know.

You start dying slowly
If you avoid to feel passion
And their turbulent emotions;
Those which make your eyes glisten
And your heart beat fast.

You start dying slowly
If you do not change your life when you are not satisfied with your job, or with your love,
If you do not risk what is safe for the uncertain,
If you do not go after a dream,
If you do not allow yourself,
At least once in your lifetime,
To run away from sensible advice.

Pablo Neruda

"Alla muevan feroz guerra
ciegos reyes
por un palmo mas de tierra;
que yo tengo aqui por mio
cuanto abarca el mar bravio,
a quien nadie impuso leyes.

Que es mi barco? mi tesoro,
que es mi dios? la libertad,
mi ley, la fuerza y el viento,
mi Unica patria, la mar..."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Is often said there are three kind of people in this world: those who make things happen, those who watch things happen and those who wonder what happened...I probably tend to be of the first kind.

I am happy organising events which connect people (I love seeing synchronicity in action) and develop a strong sense of a community in which we help each other. CS is a great platform from which to do that!

I grew up in Madrid (Spain), so I have showed it to couchsurfers! When I am in Canberra, you are welcome to stay with me and I can show you around. I have introduced CS to several travelers, who are currently quite active in the community.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have made several friends through CS while traveling whom I keep in contact with. I have embraced the CS´s spirit! Many friends have also visited me and I enjoy showing them around.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: reggae, jazz, big band, swing, salsa, afrocuban music, bossa nova, funk and virtually anything with rhythm.

Movies: Cronos, The City of Lost Children, Delicatessen, The Dreamers, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Amelie, Catch Me If You Can, Lucky Number Slevin, Sin City, Donnie Darko, American Psycho, Kill Bill, The New World...

Books: I like the magic realism of latinoamerican writers, but I also enjoy science fiction such as Asimov´s Foundation series, and humor, such as Douglas Adam´s Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I´m currently reading the book that inspired the movie The Motocycle Diaries.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

While traveling through South America, I have discovered the ancient wisdom of Indigenous communities and I developed an immense respect for their culture and way of living. I am eager to learn more about their relationship with mother earth, their gentle footstep in their environment and their community interactions.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love outdoors activities which connect me with nature. I like learning about your way of living, your history, your dreams and passions, your gastronomy...
I can show you how to cook Spanish food, how to juggle, how to dance salsa...:-p

I'd also like to share this great advice: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ctluuVMigM8&feature=related
