I have done trips by my own vehicle.. car or bike both.. Rohtang was the toughest and longest trip via Kullu manali.. went Pushkar Rajasthan, Agra, Lansdowne, Chandigarh then Shimla followed by Tatta pani, Ludhiana, Rishikesh.
