Federico Occhionero was born in 1973 in Italy (zodiac sign: Scorpion) and he has been living in Rome since 1979.

He loves taking pictures and travelling to discover new places,
far from touristy routes and refusing tour operator planned holidays.
He has travelled along Europe, alternating between train, bike and foot;
usually sleeping in camping and youth hostels.

From the darkness of the caves, to the height of the mountains, enjoying the nature,
hearing the whispers of the vulcanos and tasting wild fruits along the path.
He can't stand crowdy sites, from which he flees willingly,
looking for quiet places where it's possible, far from our noisy modern times,
to meet people and cultures, comparing different lifestyles, values and ideals.

He adores reading any kind of books, painting and writing poetries following inspirations and emotions day by day.
He keeps a diary since he was 18 years old, in order to try to answer to the never-ending questions about love, life....

He dances salsa, fashineted by new balances you can experience dancing in pairs.
He also studied Flamenco and Tango in the past.

Since 1990 he helps, as a volunteer, people with disability.
He has thought to use his degree in Engineering to deepen this passion,
helping people in need to find the best technological assistive solutions for their independent living.

He's not a poet, a photographer, a dancer.
He's not a philosopher, a traveller, an inventor.
He just tastes life and its temptations, creations, several espressions.
He moves across stories, mixing stiles, way of thinking and living.
That's his imaginative soul.
His biggest desire is to abandon any useless thing, in order to reach the life essence.

PHILOSOPHY

I like riding a bicycle, in order to enjoy nature, discover place, going to work every day (in Rome it's a passion, not just a way of moving), reduce traffic pollution, claim the streets as a public place where to meet other people, against car invasion.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'd like to host and take care people coming from all over the world. After an entire day spent travelling, nothing is better than a shower, a dinner... and some chat about our misterious life.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've already hosted people, cooking for them and offering my home. It's quite hard, after a day spent working, going to prepare everything, but it's a very stimulating experience.
