To get in touch with the local way of life ( with the lifestyle of a person) and be able to feel and understand better and more easily where I am , and to offer the same to a traveler when I'm home.

Movies: ... many of ghibli, some of wes anderson (life acuatic, darjeelin limited); and a lot of indie movies from all parts of the world!
Books: classic novels (like "top of the world"); a lot of D.H. Lawrence too, Tolkien too, Camus, Hesse, Miller. About yoga ("autobiography of a yogi" by Yogananda, also Krishnamacharya, Iyengar) psychology, philosophy, anthropology...
