About Me

I'm a young fellow who spends most of his year studying in La Sapienza, in Rome. I'm studying Italian Modern Literature, I love reading and writing all kind of stuff. My deepest dream is to publish a book someday. Just that. Going in a library and hold in my hands a book, to look down on its cover and to see there big and clear printed: FEDERICO CASTI.

However, especially on summer, I travel. It’s always been like that, but I’ve really begun having fun since I started hitch-hiking and sleeping around on beaches and parks or in stations. I just love trusting on strangers and relying on them, always. It gives me hope for humanity, I guess, and makes me feel we all are connected, somehow. Maybe I’m making bad publicity to myself, looking like some freaky kind of homeless hippie, but that’s who I am. Not the homeless hippie part, of course. All the rest.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think that one of the best pleasure in life comes from meeting new people. That's why I often travel alone, that's why I love hitch-hiking. It's amazing to realize that you can simply trust on a stranger giving you a ride or giving you a bed, even if just for a couple of hours or for a whole night. Traveling like this, using Couchsurfing and hitch-hiking, for me it's the best way of meeting new people: two different life meet and merge, and from that moment on they are never gonna be the same.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

For the summer 2017 I had this plan: to travel for three months along the Balkan coast, hitch-hiking, all alone, coming back home in time for my graduation. Then I decided to go on traveling for one year, after Greece, after Turkey, until Asia, until India. I did come back home for my graduation, but then I bought a bicycle and went all the way to India like that. It was amazing.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my world, and my world is made of what I love. And I love a lot of simply things.
I'm a real walker: I could walk all day long, and when I travel I usually do it. My feet are not that grateful to me.
I love cooking, and tasting something new. I love learning to cook food from all over the world.
I love being in contact with nature: just laying on the sand, being in front of a lake, being surrounded by hills, going over a mountain, swimming in the sea, crossing a forest and stuff like that.
I love beer, but also wine. Smoking, but not so much: I just enjoy the right cigarette at the right moment - but enjoy weed very much. If I’m drunk, anyway, that is probably the right moment for smoking.
I love reading and spending my time with a book; but sometimes it's simply time for a movie. I can wake up one day wishing to read a Leopardian poem; another day I'll be up to hear a Mozart's symphony.
I love studying, and learning a lot of new stuff. I think man is born to know new things:

“Considerate la vostra semenza:
fatti non foste a viver come bruti
ma per seguir virtute e canoscenza.”

That’s Dante, an Italian poet, and it means: "Consider well the seed that gave you birth: you were not made to live as brutes, but to follow virtue and knowledge".
I love hearing stories, and diving into a new life. This is quite the main reason that made me join Couchsurfing: so if you host me, or I will host you, well, we'll have to talk and getting to know each other.
I love being lonely, walking lonely, and thinking and writing and reading and all the stuff I love doing, lonely; but I also love sharing it all with my friends; or, even better, with a stranger. I love talking to strangers. Haven’t still said that?
