ABOUT ME
I am a Russian-Canadian software developper who has recently returned to Russia to study film.
PHILOSOPHY
Still working on this... and overeducation doesn't seem to help. In the end, I try to be honest and open... and am for the most part. At this time, I think that every individual has a lot of power but also a lot of limitations... the trick is to realize and accept both of these, so as to open up the possibility of really using one's power in this lifetime and in a beneficial way.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've couched surfed quite a few times and its been great. Hoping to host some people once I settle down a little bit.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have surfed a bunch in Mexico and Spain. I would really like to host but, so far, my living arrangements have not really allowed it.
Interests
literature, photography, rock climbing, film, chess, meditation, artificial intelligence, philosophy, hiking... I also recently spent a few weeks studying intensive Archaic greek because I've always wanted to do that. Hopefully I manage to keep that one up.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books: big fan of 19th century Russian and 20th century Japanese literature... so writers like Pushkin, Soseki, Dostoyevski, Kawabata, Murakami...
Movies: a lot of the 60s classics from ppl like Tarkovsky, Antonioni, Kurosawa... 80s hollywood such as Terminator, Indiana Jones, Star Wars... and newer good movies, though mostly foreign ones.
Music: I go through phases, but one thing that is important for me when it comes to music is that, if the music has lyrics, that they be good lyrics. Therefore, I am permanently fond of the soviet bards and people like Lhasa de Sela and Leonard Cohen... less intensely fond of a lot of others.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
hmmm... did the Camino in Spain a few years ago... that was great for me. Also happened to walk more than 80km in one of my days on that camino.
...rock-climbing with the ocean as the safety was pretty amazing too come to think of it.
Teach, Learn, Share
Funny question, but I guess the best people to learn from are the large-souled inspiring ones who remind you that you can also be like that.
