CURRENT MISSION

I am finishing my last long trip before taking a permanent job at home. I am trying to get a good dose of other worlds to sustain me for awhile

ABOUT ME

Well, that's quite a question. I am a 26 year old from California who makes wine for a living and hemisphere hops between the northern and southern hemispheres working wine harvests. In between my working stints I like to see as much of the world as my finances permit. I love having dinner parties with good friends, good food and good wine. I love having hours long conversations with a traveler you just met and whose name you don't even know. I love to be home among wonderful friends who know me and meeting new ones who are still discovering my quirks. And I like to take time and relax and enjoy life. So that's just a little about me.

PHILOSOPHY

It's been my goal for the past four to five years to see as much of the world as possible and experience different cultures not only as a tourist but to try to live as a local in these places for extended times if possible. I have gone to the nice western countries like much of Europe, Australia and New Zealand, but my current traveling has been to visit the more impoverished countries of the world such as India where I currently am. I don't feel right living in the affluent west and not seeing how a huge majority of the rest of the world lives in poverty.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am new to couchsurfing, but I have heard wonderful things from other travelers and think it's the most brilliant idea. I would like to eventually have a couch to offer, but this will require me to first go home, find a job, find an apartment and then to find a couch, so let's hope that will happen one day soon :-)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Well I as of yet don't have an official couchsurfing expperience, but I do very much enjoy my friends couches, especially when they come with a cuddley dog or cat.

兴趣

This is probably a common one, but I really like to travel. I also enjoy reading, cooking, drinking and making wine, friends, gardening, animals, hiking, pottery, and yes I even like cleaning sometimes when you turn the radio volume up and can use your broom as a dance partner/microphone.

I've been doing quite a bit of reading lately as you do traveling. Some new favorites include Inheritence of Loss, 1984, Letters from Burma, Cat's Cradle, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Catcher in the Rye, and anything by David Sederis. I'm looking forward to starting A Fine Balance, the Kite Runner, The God of Small Things, and Rushdie's East West. My favorite movies are probably Etenal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind, Napoleon Dynamite, and yes I like the green monster of Shrek. The music on my Ipod is a mixed bag with rock, alternative, and world music with other things the my friends included when they helped fill up my new Ipod before this trip that still suprise me. Some favorite though are Ben Harper, Ingrid Michaelson, and quite a few songs that I don't know who sings them.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

Attended a Nubian village wedding in Egypt. As uninvited but very welcome guests at the small village wedding just outside of Aswan, I found myself dancing with children and even very near to the bride and groom who beamed welcomingly at us. An experience I will never forget at being able to share the couples happiness.

If you go to India, bring some floss as there is no floss in India. Also losing my person space bubble has been one of the greatest experience of my life.
