About Me

CURRENT MISSION

If your life's a mission, you're missing a lot.

ABOUT ME

I totally suck in the self-praising field. I'm pretty bad at small-talk, too. And concerning the rest of me... Well, you'll find that out when we get to know each other personally.

PHILOSOPHY

There are two things that you should never take too serious: life and yourself.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

With an open mind, three empty couches and sometimes even enough beer in the fridge.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Every experience (no matter if hosting, surfing or just meeting) was somehow extraordinary. I really learned a lot about stuff I would not (or never?) have got into contact with without couchsurfing, i.e. for example russian / italian / belglian / (fill in your country) literature, intercultural relationships, the swiss tax system, american minorities, true college-stories, swedish HipHop and Electro, finnish problem resolutions, fairly fameless musicians, dancehall nerdism, canadian homesickness, sustainable design, castrating pharmaceuticals, danish craziness, dutch squatting, google drinking games, unconventional priests, sightseeing on bike or what's it like to have home-sitters.

Interests

Homer Simpson beats Peter Griffin, wine beats beer, books beat movies, soccer beats all other sports, house party beats clubbing, on the dancefloor beats at the bar, beach beats mountains, a big kitchen beats a big bathroom, cooking beats going to restaurants, Morenas beat Blondes, Barney Stinson beats Joey Tribbiani, Kreuzberg beats Mitte, Prenzelauer Berg and Friedrichshain, Döner beats Currywurst, casual beats posh, www.t-post.se beats www.anost.net, DIE ZEIT beats DER SPIEGEL, City of God beats Sin City, Hans Guckindieluft beats Hans Dampf, dopamine beats adrenaline, Nero D'Avola beats Chianti Classico, twitter beats facebook, being on bike beats being online, The british Office beats The U.S. Office, "Blood kid" beats "David after dentist", Completos beat Empanadas and being godfather and uncle beats being a little brother, oh well, let's say it's a draw.

Music, Movies, and Books

There's no favourite music, just favourite times for different kind of music. The top acts in my itunes are (in no particular order) Amewu, The Tallest Man On Earth, Caetano Veloso, The XX, Abstract Rude, Atmosphere, Lykke Li, Mumford & Sons, Feist, Miss Li, Trolle/Siebenhaar, Miss Platnum, Françoise Hardy, Vinicio Capossela, M.I.A., Maskinen, K'naan, Angus & Julia Stone, Gris, Icke & Er, K.I.Z. and different kinds of compilations, for example from the 90's, bossa nova, baile funk, french chansons or african world music. But when I'm in no music mood at all I enjoy and can highly recommend movies written or directed by Charlie Kaufman, Christopher Nolan, Alejandro González Iñarritu, Fernando Mereilles, Jim Jarmusch, Woody Allen or Quentin Tarantino and (some) books of Michel Houellebecq, Jonathan Safran Foer, Charles Buckowski, David Foster Wallace, Frank McCourt, John Fowles or Chuck Palahniuk.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

What do you expect me to say here? Something like "one time in band camp?" Come on! Okay, now I got one: I tore down the Berlin Wall, I really did. But beeing just 8 years old, it did not leave the biggest impact. Neither on me, nor on the wall.

Teach, Learn, Share

I could teach you some nice footbag moves (incl. one killer jump), how to make an amazing Latte Macchiato or - even more complicated - a perfect lasagne (old italian family recipe!). In return I will try to learn (or at least remember) anything you can show me. I'm pretty curious. Well, if we share a good time, that's quite a lot already.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Chile, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Greece, Guatemala, Honduras, Hungary, Indonesia, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
