ABOUT ME

Hey there, I'm Feilidh (pronounced Faylee).

I currently live in Wellington. I recently returned from Hamburg where I had completed an Erasmus Mundus Masters in Journalism, Media and Globalisation. It was a two year programme, with the first year located in Aarhus, Denmark. After being back in New Zealand for a couple of months I've returned to Hamburg to live with my girlfriend and find a career job over here.

In 2014 I was featured in a video about CouchSurfing for an online youth orientated news outlet called The Wireless in New Zealand. Check it out and you'll learn a bit about me and my CS experiences.

PHILOSOPHY

My personal philosophy is to experience as much of the world as possible, help those less fortunate than myself and constantly strive to increase my knowledge about the earth and its inhabitants.

We will all die some day - this is the only life we can be sure of so as much as possible I think we should spend our time with the people we love doing the things we love. A bit corny, right?

I have been using CS since 2008 and have regularly hosted, surfed and been to numerous meet ups around the globe.

I'm always happy to meet new people for drinks or a meal and show travelers around.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted more than 30 CouchSurfers in NZ as well as about 6 in Hamburg. and met up with many more. I've now surfed in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, Thailand, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, Czech Republic, United Kingdom, Japan and Taiwan.

Nearly all my experiences have been positive and I've made some close friends.

I do believe in reciprocity so anyone who hosts me is welcome to stay wherever I happen to be living in the future.

Interests

I like to read, write, go to the gym, have interesting conversations - also: Youtube, big time. I'm passionate about politics & current affairs and I'm a big appreciator of movies and great TV series.

I am a huge fight fan.. Both K1 and MMA. Got my Scuba certificate and also enjoy riding motobikes (although I currently don't own one while living in Europe).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

* I volunteered to work with the endangered Leatherback sea turtles in Costa Rica for a student exchange programme.

* Had an amazing tour of the Australian Outback where I slept under the stars on a swag and walked around Uluru.

This reminds me of one of my favourite books of all time - Happiness TM by Will Ferguson. It's a scathing, hilarious satire on the Self-Help industry.
